Repair stand
I need (want) to buy a repair stand. Seems they having a sale at Torpedo7, and I'm not sure on what to choose.
There are two Park Tool stands, the expensive PCS 10 and cheaper PCS 9, then there is an Elite that look very similar to the PCS 10. And there is also a more cheap one from Union, which look like a bit cheap but who knows, can be totally worth it?
Park Tool is a renowned brand… but is it worth to spend an extra $70? The PCS 9 is almost the same price as the Elite, but doesn't have that quick release and the structure look like a bit more loosely.
What would you buy?

I've got the Union one and it's been working great for the last 3 years.
I use it to grip to the top tube of my bikes and if you plan to grip the seat post I would not recommend it.
I've had a rebranded version of the Union for 4 years too. It's held up fine, grips seat posts (22.2 and up) hydroformed top tubes and fork steerers without a fuss.
I've used it as a portable stand at races and doing builds at mates' places. Folds away and sets up quickly.
I always have a bike in the stand, whether for working on or storage.
The only negative I can level at it is that if you hold a bike by the seat tube, remove the back wheel only, and swing the bike a bit towards the post, and push laterally, and have a shoe caught under the leg that it can start to topple...... if that's your mo in the work shop, then get a bolt down stand.
I thought I would try the Union as it's not something I use every week. So far I have stripped and rebuilt at least four bikes and used it for about fifty minor repairs and services. I only ever use the seat post for clamping, with the front tyre resting on the floor or removed. All so good.
Not sure how to rate it compared to others on the market as I haven't used them. But it's worth the money at $79. The reviews on T7 sum it up.
I've had mine for maybe 12 months. All good, no complaints from strip downs, minor repairs & general storage. A buddy of mine (bike technician) criticises it, but what we he know. What would be good is if it had a slide tool tray attached to the vertical arm. I'm gunna work on a diy one.
Have a look at these guys catalogue online.
I have one if their workstands i picked up on CRC and its light. Efficient very stable.
I highly recommend the brand.

@Dicko, do you mean this one?

I know The Bike Whisperer has one of these - praise indeed And yes, the brand produces quality gear - we have one of their stands in the lounge
From the comments here, sounds like at the budget end the Union one is the way to go.
If spending a little more, Feedback above is a great choice, although maybe this TopPeak is also worth a look, 3 legs for added stability is probably worth it, especially when working on an MTB:

@rob yep thats the one - i think there is also a cheaper model but for around $200 for somethings that you use every day i thinks its worth it.
I cant say mine will need replacing for alot of years.
