NSW - Best MTB events for rest of 2013?
Having completed my first 100 in just under 6 hours at The Convict in May I'm gearing up for an enduro race or two leading up to summer. Too many options and precious little time these days with 3 little boys - need to select carefully!
Parkes - Backyamma Bigfoot - 25 Aug - awesome flat singletrack - but doing Mudgee half marathon (tomorrow - agh!) this year instead
Coolah Classic - 15 Sept - if you're keen add it in to a weekend away in Mudgee where we have the Sept food&wine fest happening.

Fortunately if you've ditched fbook too (too much junk and vacuous crap!) , the link is still visible allowing you to get entry details.
Kanangra Classic - 20 October - Oberon - has anyone done this and can you recommend it for course, scenery, vibe - compared with Convict?
Snowy Triple Trail - 26-27 Oct - Jindabyne - http://www.rollingground.com.au/2013-snowy-tripl...
(Jindy & Thredbo were once sleepy places in summer - MTB scene there now is getting a lot of skiers down there for MTB)
Highland Fling - 10 November - having struggled to complete the 1/2 a few years ago I'm wondering about the Full...
Comments on Kanangra Classic would especially be appreciated - there are next to no write ups about the event.
Cheers & happy trails.

The popular WSMTB Summer 4 Hour Series kicks off with a twilight race at Yellomundee on Saturday 16 November - followed by an AM race on Sunday 19 Jan 2014. The third race will either be another twilight on Sat 15 Feb, or an AM on Sunday 16 Feb.
Details on www.wsmtb.com soon
I did this last year.
It is a nice event, very flat and quick. Lots of wide fire trail, only a little bit on single track. Nothing at all technical.
In terms of atmosphere, it's ok, but nothing like the convict / capital punishment etc. event centre is basically a tent in a big field, most people find accommodation nearby and drive in for the race, so not much pre or post event activity (though you can camp if you want)
Budget in terms of race organisation (one mass start, no timing chips, so they just take your number down at the finish with no regard for how far back you started etc - they actually missed my finish presumably because I was in a group of 4 or so riders and they missed writing all of us down).
If you want a fast race that you'll complete with relative ease and build your confidence, then go for it, but if you want convict style courses with technical sections, single track etc then it will probably disappoint.

I think the Kowalski classic is one of the best, if not the best races I've done. Single track galore.

Doing this for first time. 55kms of 90% single trail = a great ride in my book. Smaller numbers aswell and bucket loads of vineyards close by
