What does your bike weigh?
What bike is it and do you have any fancy schmancy parts on it? Mention if it's 26er or 29er.

Trying to get some idea of what is "normal".

I've got a Yeti 575 that's a few years old. This is a 'play' bike so was never intended to be super light. It has zero fancy shmancy parts on it.

Depending on tyres it comes in 12.5-13kg IIRC (although haven't weighed it for years - see above).

The 575 is a 26" frame for those that don't follow Yeti.

When I was looking to replace my XC race dual suspension a while back - before I found out I was broken and had to stop riding off road so much Sad - spec'd a Yeti ASR-C at 9.4kg

I reckon any decent race hardtail should easily come in sub-10kg these days and as above, you've been able to get dual suspension that light for couple years.

11kg for the new Scalpel 29r.
12-13 for the Rize in trail trim, probably low 12ish in race trim with Ti cassette and SLW wheels.
The commuter hardtail would be similar.
Haven't weighed the roadie that I just finished building but I'm guessing around 8kg somewhere. Maybe Laughing out loud

I got a few kg to lose off the spare tyre though. 3 weeks off the bike due to some infected stitches and I'm 2kg heavier Sad

26", 160mm front and rear.

Got just about carbon everything, but it's built as a super tough AM bike, so the carbon parts aren't any lighter, just way tougher.

With heavy DH tires its 13kg.

I'm less concerned about weight and more about ride-ability. If a 2.6kg pair of DH rubber can give me a 2mm wider smile, it's totally worth it.

On a cheap fishermans scale, all large.

10.4kg Ti hardtail running light 650b's, XT, Hope with carbon post & bars.
11.7 Yeti ASR sl similar spec to above
12.1 Pipedream Skookum 29er 853 steel hardtail
13.4 150mm AM El Guapo

I'm 85kg & am skeptical about super lightweight components, I put reliability above ultimate weight saving so the tyres are all running tubeless, ust or snakeskin/protection, the wheels built with brass nipples & the bars are freeride spec rather than SL.
I think that I could shed 0.5 a kilo per bike without this & another 0.75 by using XTR gears & brakes.

That intense is insanely light.

A general rule of thumb would be a high end hardtail would be 8.4-9.5kg.

A high end XC full sus race bike: 10.0-11.5kg.

Full sus trail bike 11.5-13kg

AM bike: 12kg-13kg

Downhill bikes 15kg-17kg

This is what I expect when going high end, but they can get pretty darn heavy pretty quick. I had a glory 2 that was in th 21kg bracket.

I have a 26" Alloy anthem (100mm travel) with fancy cranks and brakes but standard XT wheels. 11.3kg running tubeless.

Alloy 26" reign with Mavic Crossmax wheels 13.4kg tubeless

Specialized enduro 29r carbon fully schmancy 160mm 12.4kg. Although I reckon I will get that to 12dead soon.

If you looking for a really light hardtail 29r then Limited Edition AXX1 from OpenCycle weighs in at 7.3kg/16.1 lb.

With heavy Enve parts and Rockshox SID its 8.3kg Eye-wink

Or general everyday fruit 9.1kg :/

Of course if you can do without front suspension and handle a carbon front fork, it's 6.4kg NP, But if you do want front suspension and can handle 60mm of travel it's 6.6kg NP (NP = No pedals).

PS: those are the weights for large frames

Don't know the weight.

My bike is a Whyte M109S which is their 29" enduro dually. Typically British so all about mud clearance and protection of bearings from mud so frame isn't the lightest but not too beefy either. I have however specced it with weight weenie stuff.

Titanium bolts everywhere
Oval Carbon/Kevlar flat bar & stem
Fox Float CTD
SRAM XX mech & chain
FRM Light Weight components throughout including:
* Urano XC Team 29" wheels - 1260g!
* Brakes - magnesium alloy calipers with carbon hoses; 23g rotors
* Cranks & Chain Rings - almost 300g lighter than either XTR or XX
Tyres - keep trying different ones each month or so. Currently Kenda Small block 8 on rear and Specialized Fast Track on front. Non tubeless but running as tubeless with FRM sealant to save weight.
Adamo Prologue saddle - no more man problems. Look them up!
XTR pedals.
I also have the carbon version of the frame coming in November to save some weight.

Oh, there is also a Fatboy pedaling the thing so all the weight weenie components don't really mean that much when your knees hit your belly while pedaling...

My 2013 Epic 29er is 10.5Kg, S-Works carbon handle bars and seat post. XTR Pedals.

HOWEVER. I only weigh 61Kg.

Last year I was 14-15Kg heavier. That's almost 1.5 Epics!

I'm more worried about total weight. Me + Bike + Water + Equipment = about 75Kg

I still have room to lose another 2-3Kg before the cape to cape and still be in a healthy power to weight range. Just to make it clear I'm only like 165cm.

have some light bikes!.My wildcard which ive just fitted with a fox36 talas would be around 15 to 16kgs,Thats with flat pedals and a ks dropper post but its bomb proof and im not one for finesse!but ive dropped near that much weight in the last 6months so my motor is alot bigger now!!Alot cheaper dropping a few(or alot)of kgs than buying high end super light bits methinks....

My Large 26" stumpy evo expert is about the 12.8 kg mark and that was with tubes, i haven't weighed since i went tubeless. I also haven't really watched weight at all on my bike - dropper seat post, heavy wheels 150mm fox float up front but like others have said i'm looking for a reliable, fun rig not a light, finiky speed machine. Although a sub 10kg bike does sound pretty good! Its amazing how much you notice that 500g.

I also dont really care of my weight loaded up - lots of water, tools etc..

comes in at 11.3kg which I'm happy with as it is a set and forgot bike that handles abuse and neglect with a smile. Saving any more weight (wheels are an obvious candidate) would ruin some of that all round usability for me

My lesson. The lighter I built it, the less reliable it was.

OK, I'll jump in. Both 29ers.

Santa Cruz Tallboy, extra large, mostly X0, TWE wheels, Formula R1, Nobby Nic/Racing Ralphs tubeless, eggbeaters, around 11.6kg. Great for marathon racing. Thinking of going 1x11 which would drop a fair bit.

Also a Santa Cruz Highball, aluminium, extra large, set up for commuting. Old X9 bits and pieces, Mavic 719s on DT 350s, Kojak bags with tubes, DMR V8 flats, no lightweight at around 11.7kg, but handles Sydney's goat tracks with aplomb.

I'd consider these "normal", and not trying too hard to drop weight.

I weigh 102kg. All bikes groan with every pedal stroke. I wouldn't put them through the extra pain of having to be weighed and having it publicly displayed.

the lighter it is , the less likely it would be jumpable . and jumps are the fun part about mountainbiking ..

all these sub 10kg bikes are just road bike with knob tyres .. they good for fireroads, and a few bumps.

if u own something like that id suggest steer clear of FUN trails like lancaster, gungin descends , and luvin shovels.( or hope your frame is still under warranty )

the best part is passing people on climbs while they grinding away on their sub 10kg HT , while im on a 13kg dually and enjoying the downhills from all that hard work i just put in getting to the top.

fitness eats bike weight( within reason )

if you around the 10-11kg for HT
12-13kg dually id say they about ave weights

My Heckler weighs in at 13.1 kilos. Proper fun bike that loves going hard but is still fine for all day riding

My new Solo is around 11.8 but is tough enough where it needs to be to still be able to hit the fun stuff properly.

I'm obiously at the lower end of the budget spectrum but my well loved "Ye Olde Commencal Combi S" hits the scales at 15kg. If I was lighter and richer it might be a big deal but since I'm 105 kg and a liitle need of some milage old faithful will do until I win lotto. The old beastie handles Manly Dam a lot beeter than I do and for a 100mm travel bike it is built like a tank.
The only fancy parts I have are a pair of Mavic Crossride wheels which replaced my original pretzeled ones.

LOL 15kg !! for a full on 6" trail bike.
Its been built to take abuse not win XC races but saying that I've done a couple of 12 hour enduro races in the UK with it.
