Deliberately hit by van on Morgan Rd Firetrail

FYI, a bit shaken.

I was out for a ride this morning and got deliberately hit by a white van on the Morgan Rd fire trail. I'm okay and I was not moving at the time as I'd pulled over and was on the side of the track. He was doing about 5km/h and I'd looked away.

I looked up to see a deliberate side swipe swerving 2m towards me and he knocked out his left rear view mirror. Couldn't move fast enough standing over my bike with bushes to my right.

Rego was DAF001.

He then got out yelled at me and started grabbing at my bike. I'd picked up his mirror from the ground.

Was accused off crashing into him.

Have rung the police and heading there soon.

I was in the uphill direction at the time. He was coming over a rise on the American side of the road so I pulled over to the other side of the trail and stopped.

Was between the model aero club and Morgan Road.

Glad you're unharmed.

Unfortunately there are idiots out there who are not averse to using their vehicles as weapons.

I'd have called the cops on the spot.

More importantly, how's the bike? Eye-wink

Edit: penny just dropped re: the plate ... "Da Fool". How appropriate.

Left shoulder is stiff this morning and a bit wrenched from getting hit by mirror and side of vehicle.

No riding for a few days, hopefully good by end of week as will be in Christchurch for a sneaky lap up Port Hills while catching up with a riding mate, his wife and meeting their new baby.

Bikes fine! Protected with my shoulder.. Nah just got lucky.
