4hrs of lapping Awaba. Will probably need a back massage!
@Trailburner - are you offering both lines up Camelback? Or is the 'A-line' going to be bunted off?
Now do I have a lie in or do I get up at the crack of dawn and go and punish myself on a bike for 4hrs????
We might have something completely different in store for you this year. Still scoping out the trails - will let you know once a decision has been made.
... for the 4 hour. Prefer someone in the super masters category but will do masters if I have to.
I'm currently riding/training around 200km per week on my "on" weeks. I'm not that quick (yet).
Its not speed it's consistent lap times that help too , you'll be fine Hawkeye
The JetBlack team will be there with 51 riders. Woo Hooo
...riding the track in reserve? Anyone else heard this?
See rocky trail website
Got an email about the track yesterday. Most of the track is going to be backwards and there will be a firetrail section for overtaking.
I'm in.
Approx 200m climbing per lap over 10kms which will test weekend warriors like me after 5 or 6 laps. Guess that means an equivalent amount of descending though!
Was hoping to be in, training was going great until the knee ligaments started protesting during intervals last week. Stupid crashes.
Anyway...
Awaba backwards! Sounds like a lot of fun and should be really interesting! Will look forward to reading the race reports
Good luck and keep the rubber side down.
judging by the map that Rockytrail just posted, it seems like camelbak climb ( or descent ) is out.
looks quite a bit different than the standard red loop.
They did say if its too wet they will revise it again as the fire trail is very slippery and messy in the wet as its clay.
The track that I posted today will be the one we race on. We found a way around the clay section. We raced the HMBA Wednesday night race on it and I loved it. Something completely different. I found it a bit easier than the regular red loop but I haven't raced the red loop in a while.
Camelback is out and Siberia in reverse is a lot better than the usual way round. Watch out for a few loose corners that are quite sandy on the exit.
Did the track get washed away last night. 180mm over night http://m.weatherzone.com.au/nsw/hunter/awaba
Did anyone else race the local HMBA race a year or 2 back when the track was in reverse?
Very little flow, especially the rainforest/sallad bowl section! Then again, we didn't race the entire track reverse, only some. I'll be very interested to hear the reviews afterwards!
And yes - it has rained an awful lot in Cooranbong. My backyard is flooded.
Oh dear I have no luck entering races! Kanangra last Oct was to be my first and was cancelled the day before. Last night a huge dump of rain right over Awaba! Can't make the 29th so will be transferring to another race later on in the series - maybe James Estate.
From now on I'll let everyone now when I enter a race so they can make other plans that weekend
As already posted above we have no choice but to move the racedate. I have never seen anything quite like this.
New date is March 29.
Thanks for understanding. Underwater racing is not my thing
Bloody rain. I can't make the 29th
