The Maverick Series was announced today. Your best 3 results of 4 XCM Races count.

Good to see another XCM series in place with some great events/promoters on board. With 3 in NSW/ACT, it's a more realistic proposition for your average punter to aim at compared to the national series the old Real Insurance XCM morphed into.

I totally agree. This series represents some of the biggest and most popular events tied together in what should result in a great series.

These guys are all great promoters and organizers, so here is hoping they can get some big sponsors and $$ on board, and create something bigger and better than before.

There are a couple of notable event exceptions - the Convict and the Flight Centre Epic, but as a starting point the promoters have done a great job in getting a series up and running.

The one thing that these events have in common is they are already great events in their own right and have a massive following. This can only
Make the events and the media attention bigger, which is great for the sport.

Looking forward to a series finale at the 2014 Highland Fling on its 10th anniversary !!

As I won't be traveling to Victoria next year but,
I havn't read the details properly but is there a series for the half distance events as that's what I'll be concentrating on next year?

Be interesting see if the MTBA / CA thing ever materialises into some detail of what they are doing for Rounds 1, 2 and 3. Been a while since August....

... while the best 3 results still count, there is no requirement to do at least three races, as was the case in 2014. No "participation trumps performance" podium for me this year. Eye-wink

Actually, it will be interesting to see how many folk make 3+ rounds this year, especially given that they are more geographically spread than 2014. If you have a look at some of the 2014 category results, there weren't a whole bunch of 3+ round riders even with 3 in NSW.

What do you mean? In 2015 you still have to finish 3 races to gain a ranking in the series.

... best 3 results count, but there is no stipulation that you have to do at least 3 events. Highest point score wins.

Under series standings it says it

.... I had just been looking at the ranking details here:

http://www.maverickseries.com.au/series-details/...

No mention of a minimum there.

Maybe the fact that it took about 2 months and taking the website down for a few weeks to get the 2014 rankings sorted to reflect the minimum 3 race requirement made me think they had changed.... Smiling

Might have to think about a road trip for the Odyessy....
