Xmas Terrey Hills ride
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
The festive season is a great time of year to spend some quality time with close friends and loved ones - but don't neglect the real 'significant other' in your life - your MTB.
This ride will take in perimeter, long then cullamine tracks to get the heart rate up a bit, then a bit of bitumen and back to to the shops via some single track near the japanese school.
A dessert of some of the best legal single track in the locale courtesy of the st ives sniggle including the golf ball infested 'muppet show' will be served to those who feel up to it on the day.
Moderate pace will be maintained however we will be stopping for short food breaks on the hour and won't leave anyone behind unless you want us to
Hope to see you there.
Were you there and have a story to tell?

Been meaning to ride these trails for as long as i've been on Nobmob, but for one reason or another have never actually made it. This time i'm in & i'll be on holidays so there's nothing to stop me.( touch wood )
I wont be in Sydney
Be good to see some faces of new and old.
Not to mention get on my bike again..
Whoa a full ride meeting - nice. Looking forward to it.
Enjoy the weekend and see everyone on the 22nd - a prize for anyone making it up the sketchy pinch climb on long trail without dabbing methinks?
Nice turn out planned but...
Be wary of too many riders unless you all know each other's abilities and the pace that will be set.
Maybe worth splitting this into a second ride meeting? And putting very well defined route on here and the alternate? There's nothing wrong with a big group for some xmas banter in the carpark before/after of course
Prize for the hill climb of doom hey....
I'll have to bring a camera...
At this stage I'm intending to show up unannounced.
Happy to go back to the shops via Nerang ave as I'll bring the SS and there's only so much spinning on bitumen one can take.
Looks like we have our starting lineup for tomorrow, it's going to be warm so make sure you bring plenty of water/electrolyte/drink of choice on the ride.
Expecting it to be very dry out there with a few sandy spots along P+L.
Pancakes out of curiosity what gearing do you run on an undulating trail like this?
Anyone coming in full santa costume?
On my helmet...
Nice that'll do!
Oh really, Flash Back...well I'm running a full string of coloured LEDs and a hub genny. My bike puts out more light than Borgnis St!!!
(I'm not really...but it would be funny...)
I have been on a strict diet of EVERYTHING over the last 2 days with 2 consecutive family do's. I'll probably have a coronary lifting the bike off the rack and will be eschewing gels in favour of mince pies.
Silklama, it's a 32/18 setup. One day I'll not have to get off on the steep bits...one day...
Hey everyone I won't be able to make it tomorrow anymore, have to start work at 10 but I hope everyone enjoys the ride and I look forward to doing it another time. Merry Christmas and happy New Year.
I'm in see ya's there
Sorry guys. Can't the key. It is too late now. Have a good ride!
... getting a bit hot towards the end though.... Off to another Christmas party this arvo to undo all the good work!
Started off quite nice but I was struggling a bit towards the end there!

Anyway, great fun and good to catch up with you guys gain.
For me, not much luck today. Firstly, couldn't find my car key and woke up everyone at home. Then rushed to the trail with doggy saddle and broken valve of camelback... Now at home with not working aircon :|
More importantly, still excited to join 2nd half and met some new and old faces. Cheers!
Thanks for the company today guys, was great to have people to ride with.
@blackflash mate I actually did bring a prize for anyone who made it up the pinch climb - there's a beer waiting for you when we cross paths again. Would be good to see the video that was taken of that effort.
A few PR's from guys who have already uploaded their rides - well done in the heat.
Till next time...

Was great to catch up with a few of you. For the record, I now have super human neck muscles after sporting some antlers for the ride...
Highlight was watching Rossco go over a drop off, do a front wheel wheelie only to land heavily on his seat with enough force to make the seat point straight up... But manage to hold it all together! Well done!
@sikllama, thanks for organising! It's now 5pm, 32 degrees, and I could do with that beer right about now.
Cheers for allowing me to tag along guys, great to meet you all and your local knowledge sure added a few km's to what might have been a much shorter ride!
Big thanks to Hawkeye for saving my bacon, errr chain on the run home...I owe you one! Keep us posted on your next ride hopefully a many degrees cooler.
Imagine have to 'sit' on that saddle for the rest trip. And try to push it down a few time while riding. It either goes all up or down... Funny when I look back!!!
Glad you were able to catch up for the second half of the ride, rossco
Have to say I was struggling with the heat. Started getting decidedly wobbly on the bike control that last pass back though St Ives showground.
And I think we can say the rice protein in my hydration drink is not a goer as a non-dairy substitute for High5 4:1. blech!
... I thought it was a weak soy latte....
Did you see what it looked like? I said to @hawkeye it looked like he filled his bottle from the big muddy puddle! But it wasn't the strangest thing I saw on yesterday's ride.
That has to go to the guy (non Nobmob) riding in a red mankini... Lol... He must be 'number 3 mountain bike rider in Australia..' Ya.
Always fun to have a group challenge. The steep bit on Long fulfills that role every time.
Hope the filming worked out...stoopid iPhones!!!
Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and Santa brings you lots of stuff you just can't live without!
PS. Cheers to silklama for organising it.
.. it was a strange looking drink indeed.
Glad you saw that bloke in the mankini. I thought I was just starting to hallucinate from a bit of de-hydration and had a good long drink of electrolytes as soon as he went past. Was he wearing a santa hat as well??
And he had a lovely female elf assistant in tow.
Ok so who's going to organise a Nobmob mankini ride?
Pancakes? Haven't you got a selection of different colours?
Hawkeye, I expect yours is made of feathers...
Sikllama? Maybe that's why the llama is sick?
Rob? Don't you have one you picked up in Italy recently?
Flash... I think I can speak for all of us when I say I just vomited a little.
