Thredbo Riding advise
Going to Thredbo for a few days early Jan. My thing is XC, any advise on XC rides in the area is welcome. I'd like to ride up to the top of Mt Kosciuszko and tick that off my bucket list - is that allowed? Would be a great climb from Thredbo if it is.
Cheers!

Unless you're Chris Akrigg.
There is an out and back ride from Thredbo to Lake Crack N Sack or whatever its called.

There is also the stuff around Lake Jindabyne.
{Edit} Sorry, you meant ride to top of Mt Kozi. I was thinning the top of the Thredbo Mtn. Not really worth going up Kozi IMO. Hardly a challenging ride unless you start from Jindabyne but then its mostly on road How about a charilift to the top of Eagles Nest then take the flow trail or Dh track back down?
... and the new Flow Track to ride down (if you buy the induction / lift ticket thing), the river trail to Crackenback is almost complete and there is a good loop at Crackenback (allegedly, I haven't been there yet). Ride or drive up towards Dead Horse Gap and take the Cascades Track out to Cascades Hut and back (big climb each way over Bob's Ridge), or go further if you've got the time / juice / navigational nouse.

You can't ride to Kosi from Thredbo, but you can drive around to Charlotte's Pass and ride up to Rawson's Pass on the track up to Kosi, but you have to walk the last km or so to the top. Basic fire trail stuff, but above the tree line, so pretty spectacular scenery and you start to notice the thinner air on the section from Seaman's Hut up to Rawsons. There are toilets and bike racks at Rawsons.
If you like a real sense of achievement, get someone to drop you at Smiggins and pick you up at Geehi Plains while you ride down to Guthega Power Station, up over Schlink Pass, down to Geehi Dam and then out onto the Alpine Way. Now that's a reasonable day out....
If you wanna ride up to Kozzy, there's a fire trail from Charlottes Pass up to a place called Rawsons Pass, where you have to leave your bike and walk about a kilometer up to Mt Kosciusko.
Theres a whole bunch of XC stuff between Jindy dam and Tyrolean village as well.
And don't forget the great trails at Bungarra just outside of Jindabine and the host of the Wicked Wombat !
That should keep me busy for a few days and end the break I've had since Scott 24 and start getting ready for another season of races.
The ride from Dead Horse Gap (a few km up the road from Thredbo) out to Cascade Hut and back is really nice, see:

It's worth mentioning that from Thredbo Top Station you cannot ride to Kosi Summit due to the restriction on bikes on the raised metal grid walkway.
