Rob,
What happened here?
I don't ride MD any more so this didn't appear on my radar. That said I'm interested to know what happened and what that mean for the trail. Will it be changed / increased / decreased / improved etc?
It would be nice to have another fun & legal riding option that I could go to.
This was only put in the calendar to let people know it's on. If anyone went to this, or the other consultation and has something to report it would be interesting to hear.
Surprised that no one has commented on this as it is big news for the Dam.
They are going to build a new trail at the top of the Golf Course car park entrance that will go through the trees, instead of on the existing walking track along the side of the oval. The guy I spoke to from the council said there was talks of 2 tracks, an easier one and pump style one with berms and rollers.
They're going to build a b-line down to the flat rock in the Golf Course sniggle to keep slower/beginner riders out of the way of faster riders on the existing line.
Also a new exit at the end to the Mermaid Pools is being built as the current exit is actually on University land, not Councils.
They are also going be legalising the trails under the pipeline to get onto Evas Track and then the main loop and possibly building a pump track up at the Aquatic Centre. They see parking and starting a loop from Wakehurst Parkway as a massive safety issue and want to turn the Aquatic Center into a bit of a bike hub and encourage parking there instead.
Timing is to begin in March.
This all sounds like great news. I look forward to seeing it all come together.
Let us know when the build days are, I'd like to help out.
