Signed up for the Punishment

Thanks to those who offered advice and encouragement about signing up for my first 100km event - I've now committed to the CP100!

Can anyone offer any advice on nutrition? I've never really gone far beyond stuffing an energy bar into my jersey pocket before heading out for a reasonable ride. What would you recommend for a 100km race - bars/gels and how frequent?

Instead of stuffing them into your back pocket before the ride, I'd suggest stuffing them in your mouth - during the ride.

How very helpful Eye-wink

Couple of approaches, but bascially 200-300 cals per hour is the limit.
Other way to look at it would be 1grm of carb / kg of your body weight / hour of riding.
Its personal preference what your 'source of food is - gels, bars, some energy in your drink....

With the Cap Pun there is a real opportunity to eat something good / nourishing during the 'dead' zone - so plan that into your appracoh to nutrition. Perhaps have a loved one meet you with fresh bottles and food to eat and to carry for the final 30km or so.

Good luck, and dont sweat the minor details of nutitrition too much, Eat a bit, every 20-30mins, and drink with it. You'll be fine.
