Today, this afternoon from Hornsby Heights near Montview Oval stolen out of our locked house
a Merida One Twenty, with upgraded Stans Wheels, Red Hope Hubs, White Avid Elixir Brakes and Flat Bar, also my wifes new Giant Boulder 29er, Matt Black.

A Neighbour saw someone in our back yard so only got a slight description, Dark Hair, Beard, not sure what ethinicity.

Sounds like a targeted attack especially if the house was locked up. Hopefully you had the serial numbers written down and can supply to the police. My brother in law lives on Montview, though he doesn't own bikes, think I'll give him the heads up to watch out for prowlers.

You may be able to get the serial no from your shop u bought. For some brands, I think they can put a remark on the frame somehow. Again, sorry to hear that.

Def targetted,

Bikes haven't been out for a while and out of site in a secured garage. Had a bug guy at the house just the day before for a few hours, other stuff stolen from house was all out of site but they knew where to find it, not good for the wife who's 33 weeks preggers to walk into a trashed house.

For those that have had similar happen, have u been able to claim for upgrades spent on your bike? i spent a grand on new wheel set and brakes to upgrade the originals, wondering if I'll be able to claim them, they don't make this model bike anymore either which sucks

Might be worth supplying police with the bug guys details to "help" with investigations. Unlikely to be linked but then again the immediate theft might be purposely done to make it seem not feasible.

Hope you get your bikes back.

Police took note of that straight away Andy, said same as you, probably not linked but one hell of a coincidence.
Would love to get it back, I'm too short legged for a 29er and don't know where to start on finding a replacement.

Specialized FSR Stumpjumper. They still make a 26 inch version. My dream bike...
