Clubs need volunteers
Every one likes to race and most people appreciate the efforts of those organising it.
Most are happy to help out where they can in the lead up on the day of a race but have you ever thought about becoming a commissaire?
The commissaire is the one who makes sure things are being run safely and fairly.
At club level you can also be an organiser or entrant and generally doesn't take too much out of your time. That said they are essential to the running of the race.
We're not allowed to run a race without at least 1 commissaire present, so obviously the more we have the less chance of turning up to a clubbie only not to be allowed to race because our 1 volunteer couldn't make it that week.
Getting your level 1 ticket is pretty straight forward, there is an on line course that you can do in your own time.

Those that know me usually see me at race meets as a track marshall/sweep I volunteer my day by riding behind the last rider till they do their first lap then I go out during the course of the race see check all is ok . There is not enough people like me who do this
Yes - clubs run on volunteers - but unfortunately sometimes we just get a bit busy to ask for help! So if you ride a bit with a club, then please be a bit forward and ask how you can help out. You'll find the experience rewarding, and you will get to know some great riders a lot better.
There's something for everyone to do:
- Commisaires are essential to EVERY race.
- Marshals and sweepers. (Always great to see Smiley out there!)
- track maintenance. We all love good tracks - but they don't just happen by magic!
- time keeping - a great way to get to know all the riders.
Lots more that can be done. If every rider just helped out for a few hours each year then our tracks could be improved and our events continue to run well.
Please consider.
