Hi Guys,
I Would be very keen to get up there and go for a ride, Is anyone passing though/near dulwich hill that can give me a ride? please contact me on 0401227194. I had a lot of fun riding with you guys at Menai. would be good to go exploring a new area. Gav
Have changed the time to earlier to beat the traffic both ways.
Wouldn't want to leave much later than midday.
I don't know the way around here as I've never been, so see how we go.
Can meet up with the others at 9am
We are interested in joining you for this ride. Is there lots of singletrack? We are new to the area so wouldn't mind getting very specific directions. So are you starting to ride at 7:30am? What time would one need to leave Manly in order to get there in time to hook up with the group?
Ride start time will be confirmed Sunday arvo.
Reason is, I don't know Ourimbah and have never been there.
A guy I met on a ride (from another forum) has organised the ride and got a few others going, but wanted some Nobbers along. When he suggested a 7.30 start to them there was a revolt, so they are meeting at 8.30 for 9am start.
As I don't know the area, if no nobbers post who can guide I will meet up with the others at 8.30.
As for specific directions, if no-one else can help, I will find out (I'll need to anyway)
From Mona Vale I am leaving 1.5 hours to be safe. Manly much the same I guess.
Anyhoo, stay tuned.
1. From Manly, get yourself onto Pacific Hwy northbound and onto Sydney Newcastle Fwy (F1?) around the Wahroonga/Hornsby area.
2. Keep going for about 45 mins and take the Wyong exit (Old Maitland Rd, PAST the Ourimbah exit) - can't miss it, look out for the westfield tuggerah sign on the east side of the hwy.
3. Follow the road to the end and take a left at the T-junction (yarramalong road).
4. Keep going for about 2km and take a left at Red Hill Rd, basically a gravelly 4wd track.
5. Park
Whole trip should take about 1hr 20mins from manly
Just to confirm some bits...
- head north on the F3
- watch out for the speed cameras, they are everywhere
- go past the 2 Gosford exits
- miss the first Ourimbah exit
- at the TUGGERAH interchange exit use the left exit ramp, then turn left 300m up at the T-junction (turning right would take you towards the Westfield. Good for food etc afterwards if you are feeling peckish).
- follow funky's directions otherwise.
It is pretty easy to get to Ourimbah once you are on the F3.
Is this another Farkin hosted ride? I could be a goer for Monday but I'm worried about the pace of the ride. I'll confirm on Sunday.
For the directions
Yes petulance, another farkin nobs ride
Pace is given as medium
I'll ask Al for details
Hi guys, I'll be at ourimbah on mon about 9am with a bunch of mates if anyone wants to join us
Hey Andy, so what's the official start time on this ride now? Can you edit the post and fix it up if not 7:30 - which seems awfully early on a holiday weekend!
Depending on other plans I may join you. May... be.
well 9am is the time i had already organised with my mates before i saw there was a nobmob ride planned (we're leaving west pymble at about 8am if everyone is on time) Just thought i'd let you know we would be there in case anyone wanted to meet up. we'll being doing a mix of DH and XC
8.30 kick off seems most popular.
7.30 is a little ambitious.
Can still fit in 3 or 4 hours good riding with a 8.30 start
realistically we probably won't be pedalling till 9, Rogue.
So we might catch up. i don't think you'll be able to miss us
I've got a blue commodore st wagon and black stumpy
might see you there
the later you will be heading home with all the rest of the traffic that returns to Sydney on an Easter Monday afternoon.
Don't forget to put the cd's in for the long car trip home.
What time does that build up start
It wouldn't be before 1pm would it??
It can even start earlier if its been a wet weekend
Ride is still on as clearing weather is expected and apparently Ourimbah drains well.
Petulance, the ride will cater to all speeds apparently.
Supagav, looks like you got set for a lift - did that work out?
Won't be much time to hang around afterwards - I heard on the radio expect delays around 3 and 6pm. So I'm looking at heading back around no later than 1pm.
With this crappy rain, I'm off to the show.
Just had my bike serviced and can't wait for a good ride.
See y'all there.
Thanks for the directions.
So what is the official ride time now?
Will wait till 9 depending on the crew.
Take my mobile number (in profile) and give me a call if you will be late
Right, am in - see you there
... 'cos today we didn't get to ride the full 26Km Wingello loop that was planned, only managed 16K or so of sniggle. Shame! And not a sole in sight, beautiful stuff that Wingello sniggle is too.
I'm feeling a bit fatigued from the long weekend so I'm leaving it till tomorrow morning to decide if I want to pull the plug on this.
looking forward to hearing about wingello. never been before but will be there next week
see everybody there
Harry and I are still coming so see ya 's around 8:20
Greg
Doh! It's wet and am tired. Sorry folk - next time.
We bailed due to rain. I'd love to hear how it went for those who went anyway. If it was good, next time I'll go despite the downpour.
So I wasn't the only person who bailed!
We were greeted with sunshine from about the Gosford turn off and it was that way all day. XC loop was fine except for The Graveyard and we gave that a miss on the second lap, DH track was dry all the way down to the bottom, glad Pikey "twisted my arm" really enjoyed the day.
excellent weather and the roller coaster is the best. Bit of moisture made the trail nice and tacky- there was a bit of mud at the graveyard that we by-passed on the 2nd lap.
Thanks to Harry and Greg for leading the way- except the decision to ride up the hill(s) to the down hill track. OK, in retrospect that was worthwhile (as opposed to good). The DH was zesty!
Top day, left just before 1 and was at the Wahroonga turn off by 2pm.
Sounds awesome, I won't make that mistake again. I spent the day on my road bike kicking myself that I didn't go with you guys. Oh well, next time.... There will be a next time.
