Don't forget to look out for SXC Racing. They were there in the first wave. Wayne wrote they averaged 40km/h for the first 20km. Ouch!

WOW....hardcore racing in true African style!

.. that 2 grand masters teams are ahead of the masters leaders - one in the top 20! Some hard OB's no doubt....

Given the time that Dicko and Brian took to complete stage 1 (very competitively) compared to their 100 km times back here, that was a hellish 113km first stage. And it probably doesn't get much easier for the next few days. Backing up day after day will be a real test of their will, their training and their friendship. Looking forward to hearing more good news!

Today has been BRUTAL. It will change them forever. Horrific conditions.
Never would it have been raced in Australia. Soaking wet, deep mud, etc etc.

They are plugging away, but they wont be happy bunnies tonight.

100m from the start people stacking in deep mud pits. We then had 100km to go. That fine mud gets everywhere and my kit will be getting binned from today.

looking at the pictures.. it looks just plain $%*#ing horrible and sounds just like a day I'd be looking for any reason to break that rule.

Well done for completing the stage!

Just been looking at the photos. Conditions looking diabolical.

Well done for completing that stage.

Been watching the finishers come through last night and it looked like it had been a seriously tough day. Well done to Brian and Wayne for getting though it especially with the tyre issues on top of the rain and mud.
