hey alex, I guess with a 9am start we can get about 5 or six runs in an leave around noonish? we'll just have to be on the ball with loading the shuttles, lunch on the road to get ahead of the pack....I don't mind getting up there earlier if you'd rather have more time and avoid the rush....cool either way.

Muffin Man's picture

The earlier the better for me. Home early arvo would be sweet.

Alex's picture

sounds tops, ill try to get to bed as early as poss tomorrow night, maybe 8 then? is that too early?

nate's picture

8am is fine for me....I'm not into that F3 pm traffic.

Muffin Man's picture

8am, holy crap that's early!! lol, Can we push for 8:30 (leave syd 7am)?, or am I out-voted?

nate's picture

8.30 is fine...and a little more human...I guess I'm used to starting work at 7.

whatever time you decide is fine.

one more ? Im working that arvo but would love another crack at the gap jump as I wasn't happy with the new work on that section IMO it makes the jump difficult .

Was the track OK after the rain, we had done some work on Friday and hope that it had held up with the rain on Saturday, mainly the steep corner and the berms at the top

blackbetty's picture

Yeah the track is getting better and better. We were all commenting that someone had done the hard yaka and made it a lot more enjoyable. Its all holding up well. That said, I've got a soft spot for technical riding so if it's getting rutted I wouldn't notice because I love that sorta stuff.

Muffin Man's picture

The track was great, the berms were alot of fun, you can really lay the bike down into them now and still hook up and they flow really well. The bottom long sweeping lefts, are they the other ones you mean? If so, they were really really fast, you hit the bottom most berm really really quick and slignshot out, it's bloody good fun. I was using the outside line more than the inside which I don't normally do, it was awesome. The whole track is flowing much better.
As Blackbetty said, thanks heaps for all your hard work, if you would like a helping hand at any stage, post up and I'm sure we can get some helpers up.
Cheers.

When we were there on Good Friday, the DH trail had some maintenance happening on it. This looks to be the creation of some drainage ditches where there is an extremely steep left hand bend, and a short straight run towards a log drop off. I stopped and walked my bike over that, as it was still in construction and it's uncool to muck up what the trail fairies are accomplishing.

Otherwise, the XC and DH trails are in excellent condition. The local club there is doing a great job on the trails. The rain has made the dirt even more hard packed. The corners are unbelievably fast.

The only area of concern was the graveyard on the XC trail. That whole section seems to have been under a foot of water recently. It has been cordoned off to stop riders going through it. Fair nuff, you just ride the detour back on the fire trail to the car park. No big deal.

I'm not a massive fan of the grave yard anyway. I've never come out of their clean and compared to the enjoyment of the rest (like the roller coaster) it doesn't seem worth the muck. (and thats saying something considering how much i like getting mucky.) Not sure I can see it drying up any time soon. Its like a rainforest in there.

yeh i concur with muffins.. awesome new berms! always said the one thing missing from that track is major flowage, and with those well dug in berms at the top and the now bigger left berms before the tree drops, its much more flowy and enjoyable..along with the new doubles littered throughout, and generally better grooved everything, its really become a top trail! 2 things we were talking about for a while, and tell me to shut up if you want! is the entry point to the 2nd section after the new bridge gap jump, would it be possible to link it up without such a long distance through the fire trail before cutting back into the left? just a suggestion, would be nice to cut straight back into the left without the firetrail flat sprint..and the massive right hand curve after the big tree drop that leads up to the dipper and left hand turn to the final jump section, how about a berm in there before the dipper? that would be sweet! anyway, like i say just a suggestion, love the trail anyway keep it up!
id definantly be willing to help out on a maintanence day too btw..

antonfourie's picture

We would love to do something with that section along the fire road but have not been able to come up with any good ideas that would allow you to keep your speed over that flat section, so any suggestion are welcome.

Yes a berm would be a great idea for that long right hander or even just smoothing it out and removing some of the water ruts, I am going to add that to the list of things to do on the track.

I think that the next work day will be on the weekend of the 12/13th of April, we have a race on at Awaba this weekend and Stromlo (NSW DH1) next weekend

Great, would you mind posting up on the forum under rides or something when you've confirmed the date?, as I will try to be free to come up and lend a hand. Thanks, Dave.
