Any feedback on 99bikes shop in Artarmon ?

I am in Waverton, looking for a shop to fine-tune my MTB at a fair price before a race.
So far I have two options :
- bike bug on the pacific hwy in north sydney. They have a 100$ standard rate.
or
- 99 bikes shop in Artarmon. They have a cheaper service rate but not sure it is great.

Basically my bike is in good shape (trek6000 from 2010, not a fancy bike) but needs a some adjustments with brakes making noise, RD hanger brand new so the whole gear tune has to be done and cleaning. I'd like to stay under the 100$ if possible...

Thanks for any feedback, or even other shops idea around the area.

They have been really good in my experience. I bought a bike from them and the minor adjustments/tuning have been ok. I find them really friendly and willing to help.

If your bike needs new parts, they have really good prices. Everything is at least 10% cheaper than any CBD shop. (it is always good to pay the $5 and join the 99 bikes club, you save a lot of money- members discounts)

As long as you are very specific with the bits that need repair (it is always good to do a bit of self assessment) they should be able to fix the rest. I also go for a short ride around the block just to make sure that everything works fine after the service...

Be interested to see who's running the Bondi Junction store. If it's the same guys who had the shop before it changed, then it'll be mainly a roadie shop with a couple of MTBs tucked away at the back.

I hope they're now doing more mtb stuff as it's one of my closest shops.

I went in there in the first week. Its certainly not the useless mob that ran previous shop.

There is a range of MTB - Norco and Merida, hard tails to 6" FS.

I hope the MTB remains as the Eastern Subs is def a roadie region.

Personally I think they should try to arrange a Sydney Showing of "Won't Back Down"……..maybe I should contact them. Geez, Flight Centre could even fly Peaty in for the showing!

+1 for Cranks. Paul is excellent.

I'm glad someone else feels the same about the last lot, I've never been subjected to such condescending and uninterested customer service before. God knows why I bought a bike from there.

I'll call in the new place one night next week on my way home from work.

... I'm pretty surprised no one (in FNQ) never organised a showing given he was in Cairns only a few weeks ago for the DH World Cup... I'd a got me a ticket for that.... Can't wait for the release... Hijack - apologies I'll get back in my box Eye-wink

They just opened up in Brookvale and I took my bike to them two weeks ago to get serviced and a few new parts. the guys were great and I found the tune up the best one I've had so far anywhere, adjusted the brakes and new pads, fixed the slipping gears, new tyres front and back as well. Service wise, excellent! I've gone to some of the shops in the northern beaches, most are pretty good, but 99 at Brooky, I'd recommend without hesitation. I'd imagine their service quality is the same in all shops, well you'd hope so.

Hi all

My two cents.

I have been to a few shops but my favorite is Renegade in Lane Cove.

Really friendly and always ready to help. Amazing range of Trek bikes.

Great loyalty program too.
