Chopper dropping building materials in Bantry Bay
Update on Bantry Bay. I had a letter box drop yesterday advising of helicopters operating today and next Friday due to trail building
I wasn't home today but apparently it was running non stop from 09:00 to 3:30 today.
So all good signs that trail construction is about to kick off.

I rode down the Cook Street Trail on Saturday and it was cut up with truck tracks obviously taking materials down to the natural bridge path. It looks like work on the foot rather than a bike trail though. What happened to that proposal?
Got a bit of Man Flu so working from home today and can see the Chopper doing runs from Forestville Oval across to the Eastern Ridge (the Wakehurst Parkway side).
So looks like that section will also be built!
Comment form the other half is that the chopper has been running every Friday since May between 09:00 and 3:00. It's going to be some trail!!!
The mountain bike works are well underway and got to walk some of the new single track with NPWS a few weeks back.
Both sides definitely being built. Only issue is Warringah Council don't have money to build the short connection between them. We may need to get letter writing, meeting with them soon. Will let everyone know.
We were super stoked to see what's gone in and more technical than we were expecting on what is supposed to be the less technical loop.
NPWS also agreed to fix up the walking tracks which in places were knee deep gullies. This is working well in our favour as some walkers and staff are seeming how low impact and natural Mtb trails are compared with walking tracks built to Australian Standards. South Australia are already onto this and are starting to use IMBA spec tracks for all trails types as they have less impact, cost less to maintain and less intensive to build.
NPWS staff also sent some photos out for stakeholders to review of the track and the email was returned with what track? What's the photo of?
This was realised a few years ago overseas and has come throuhg on some of the US forums where mtb clubs have been asked to design, build and maintain all multi-user and single user type trails. It's good to see some areas of Australia starting to catch up with the rest of the world.
Thanks for the good news, that's great. Regarding maintenance, I'm happy to help if its needed.
