Found This Devinci Downhill Bike Fitted With Inverted Forks, Nice Looking Bike Thats For Sure, I Wonder What The Advantage/Disadvantage Is Of Inverting Just Like A Moto set Up.

Pros: better weight distribution in that it reduces unsprung weight and puts the heavy workings on top of the spring. This reduces the inertia of the lower which give much better small bump sensitivity.

Cons: Hard to make torsionally stiff with out adding weight. Standard forks have the arch as a cross brace just above the wheel to help reduce flex at the axle, Can't do that with an inverted design

Also puts the stanchons further down so a little more prone to copping a stick or rock and scratching.

Back in the day Manitou Shivers had a stanchons guard, soaked up bumps like nothing else, but were a little squirrelly in the corners.

The thicker stanchons on modern forks would help with the flex, be interesting to see how they rode

Pretty sure fox have a USD model coming out or in prototype so obviously the idea is making a come back.

I'm running a White Bros Groove custom USD on the tandem. It certainly is stiffer than a conventional 15mm through axle fork with 32 mm stanchions.

USD forks are nothing new. Darados have been around for ages.

The new DVO Emerald USD forks are very stiff. They have a carbon protector/arch that is unbelievably stiff.

Ah the lefty. A great engineering solution looking for a problem to solve

Why bother leaving on what you don't structurally need? It's just extra weight for no purpose. Evil

I changed my front tyre on the weekend. Didn't even have to take the wheel off. Sticking out tongue

Eye-wink Smiling
