Wylde MTB Trail Community Open Day
Wylde MTB Car park and Trail head is just off Elizabeth drive located next to the Sydney International (Cecil Park) Shooting Centre. The turn off can be found on the left 3km Due west from the M7 Motorway or on the right 600m Due East from Mamre Road.
As many of you know, due to the heavy rain we have been experiencing over the last few weeks Western Sydney Parklands (WSP) Trust management made the unfortunate decision to postpone the official Wylde MTB Trail Community Open Day scheduled last month.
New Date of Community Day
WSP are now pleased to announce the new event date will be Sunday 12 October (12pm to 3pm).
Our community day will feature stalls by MTB favourites Shimano MTB Equipment and Zero Five Sports Apparel, and Liverpool's ABC Bikes are bringing along the brand new Giant 2015 MTB Bike Demo Fleet for members of the public to try out on track.
Refreshments will be available for purchase on the day and the public are encouraged to bring their own bikes and try out the new trail. Entry and parking onsite is free.
Free Skills Clinics
Our course designer, Brett Barnes, will be running three Skills Clinics alongside World Number 2 Junior Rider, Danielle Beecroft, on the pump track. We will be contacting all riders with confirmed places at the original skills clinics regarding your availability on the new date. Bookings for the remainder will be released on our Western Sydney Parklands website and Facebook page soon.
Trail opening
We share your excitement in being able to ride this fantastic facility but as the Trail still requires at least two days of full sun to dry and more rain is expected, the site will remain closed until further notice. Please like our Facebook page for the latest Trail status.
We would like to remind all mountain bikers interested in riding the Wylde MTB Trail to respect this closure to allow the site time to dry properly so all riders can enjoy the great facilities sooner.
We look forward to catching up with you at the Wylde MTB Trail in the near future.
Free parking is available on site. Download location map (PDF 2.4MB).

Hi all - the Ladies Clinic filled very quickly when it was to be held on 24 Aug, and we are keeping those bookings (and waiting list) for 12 Oct.
Also, please note that WSP are still sorting through some last minute details, and so the track is not yet open for general use.
Hi All,
I smashed my collar bone into three pieces last Saturday trying to ride over the raised platform which I think is called the Roly Poly A-Line. Apologies if I got the name wrong, I didn't bother to go back and check.
The man-made raised platform has three gently rolling up and down bumps and then ends in a large drop back down to ground. The drop is too big to roll off even on a 29er as I learned the hard way. You are very likely to go OTB trying that. AND you see the drop so late that it is hard to launch off it properly. The drop does take one also by surprise since other obstacles on the trail are pretty smooth to ride over and nothing like this one.
I did send a note to the park management and we talked about it, but not sure if they have already taken action.
Otherwise a great trail and enjoy the opening day!
Before you come after me for riding a trail that is not yet officially open: It is open, this is just the community opening day.
Cheers,
Volker
Had a friend dislocate his shoulder there too. Its simply not do'able unless you lift both wheels with speed, which is not available given the roll feature.
Other than that, it's probably the best trail design within Sydney.
Kudos to whoever were the design team, assuming its not the same fellas that did OMV *cough cough*.
Really?
I rode the "Roly Poly" feature blind on my first lap there and simply leant back slightly. I didn't lift both wheels or hit it with speed and I was on my XC race bike.
The feature is not difficult but if you're not confident in hitting A-lines then don't ride it or have a look first and watch a few others ride it.
You don't need lots of speed and/or to lift both wheels. Get the technique right on something smaller first and build up to Roly Poly. Some people will lift the front a little, others will push the bike forward from their body slightly, some might try to bunny or J hop off the end, but it's not a difficult A Line to roll off.
Let's not have those who can't do something spoil it for everyone else. Instead, they should have a look, practise and then be prepared to crash if you don't get it right. There is a level of risk involved with mtbing. That is part of what makes it fun and exciting.
