Kowalski 100
Well after 6 months of sitting on the sidelines due to a DVT and hitting a tree I was super eager to race again. I had my eye on this race for months out and was really excited to head down to Kowen/Sparrow and sample the delights on offer. And I had my fill and then some!
Started in wave 3c. Now I have to say that the congestion was ridiculous. I think I was in a conga line till 30km at least. I didn't let it bother me though and just enjoyed the endless flowing ribbon of singletrack. Some people around me were getting really up tight though.
The first 50km was pretty uneventful, just heaps of fun. Went through the 50km transition, filled up with water and ate something for the first time.
2nd 50km was hilly! I employed the sub-granny(walking) a few times but once again there were enough fast flowing trails to keep the fun factor high. And the crowd had really thinned out so finally was able to ride my own pace. Unfortunately my pace was slowing somewhat!
Crossed the line tired but really happy. I would have liked to be a little faster but wouldn't we all! Thanks to all the volunteers and trail builders for a great day out. I always come away from Canberra feeling really envious of the trails they have down there!

Big day off the back of a DVt recovery.
