Kowalski Fun

On the back of a decent Capital Punishment result this year I was hopeful of a sub 3hr finish. I started in wave 4 towards the front and made progress through the traffic until my seat clamp failed leaving me with no choice but to jump off and fix it whilst loads of riders I'd worked hard to pass went by.
This would happen a total of 3 times and by such time I knew a sub 3hr was out the window. I also knew the energy I'd spent making ground up would cost me. Sure enough, the last 15km were hard with the last 7km really hard.
I did, however, really enjoy the trails and had some big smiles throughout. What did get me thinking though, and I've read snippets of it in others' blogs, was the frustration and very unusual and un MTB like attitude of many of the riders. I've never really seen it in this sport before.I guess there really can be too much single track.
I'll be back next year with a new seat clamp and a better crack at the sub 3hr

Well done mate. Great time for the amount of prep you'd done.
Under 3 hours next year?
Prep... So 6 weekend rides and one midweek interval session isn't enough? I'm gonna have to rethink my training strategy next time
I was also pretty happy to blame my bike for preventing me from a sub 3hr too... Oh well, guess it might have been me too
Well done Andy
Thanks for the encouragement Brian. Gonna keep my "training" going for the fling... Had a very miserable time last year with 3hrs 40mins
