Flung
Found this pretty hard this year, which seems to be not an uncommon experience. The changes to the first stage didn't add anything to the race except for lots of ups and downs and sandy fire road corners. Changes to the final stage added a bit of interest with the new sections leading down to the creek crossing, but I found it hard to enjoy the rocky single track towards the end after struggling through Roller Coaster and up Brokeback Mountain. Be nice to have it closer to the start if they could find some way to do that without turning it into a conga line of walkers.....
Weather was perfect this year and the "whole of village" event vibe is still a real buzz, even if numbers were down a bit this year following the rescheduled MONT.
Hope to be back next year for a first hit up at Grand Masters!

Well done Lach - so since you'll be one of the young guns in your category, perhaps we'll see you on the podium next year?
I'll keep an eye out for you around LCNP over the summer months.
Cheers
... I'd have needed to knock about half an hour off my time to get on the Grandmasters podium THIS year, so a podium next year will be a real challenge, as I'm no doubt not the only one sliding up from Supermasters.
I think I've got to lose a fair bit of weight (I'm sure Chris Froome's weedy body is lurking somewhere inside my taller, more robust frame) and get into those LCNP hills more and with more intent / structure. This Fling I managed to sustain an average heart rate of 89% of my max and put out over 190w average (on Strava's rough estimation), so I don't think the effort is lacking....
