An excuse to get back to the dam and bantry bay... It's been a while for me.
This looks like an excellent reason to get down and meet up with a few old peeps
frothing...
looks just as good as OMV maybe better
What area is this being built in?
Follow the facebook link at the top
on the facebook page down the bottom is a strava segment link.
But its on the western side of Bantry Bay
whats a good way of accessing this trail (once it's open) from manly dam via possum?
Option 1 is now closed; it was a trail from Bluff Firetrail through to the back of the Forestville Ovals. Don't ride as it crosses over some rocks with carvings.
Option 2 is really a walking trail with a sketchy descent that I've always walked and a very eroded power line access trail. To get to it ride Possums up to the point where it comes up to Bantry Bay road at Yarraman Ave. Ride south down Bantry Bay about 100M and turn right into Penrose Place. At the very end of Penrose there a public path that will take you into a buffer between the houses and Forestville Park. Turn left and head along the grass to the top of the rise, on your right there is a walking trail. Follow this and it'll take you to the playing fields. Be VERY careful not to come in with too much speed as there is a BIG cliff that you could ride off.
Option 3 is in progress. There is some fairy work in progress that, considering they have't had the air support of the official trail, is nothing short of amazing. I won't steal their thunder and announce the trail but I'm sure in good time it will be as well known as possums.
Cheers Daniel, option 3 sounds great when it's ready! Thanks fairies!
is ascending only. Descending will blow it out real quick. For those that find it, and are too selfish to leave it alone before it's finished , *please* dont ride it downhill.
The descending leg will be underway shortly.'
More info when it's ready to be announced.
