Cold Lube
Is it getting cold or what!? I was going to put some Rock and Roll Gold lube on my chain last night. And the instant the lube hit the chain it thickened and stayed as nice blob on top of the chain without running down into the link. Obviously this isn't going to help in prolonging the life of my drivetrain.
I suppose this is one disadvantage of using a wax based lube. So is anyone else having this problem and is there any solution short of applying the lube in a nice heated room? I really like how Rock and Roll doesn't attract dust so I would like to stick with it through winter if possible.

Mr Cupcake advised me to sit the bottle of lube (we were talking about White Lightening Wax Lube - but very similar) in a cup of hot water for a while prior to application.
Sounds like this could help?
Sounds similar to heating a baby's bottle!
Suppose that could work. I'll try. The chain itself was very cold so we'll see if the warm lube gets in quick enough before thickening.
I keep my lube in my pyjamas that way it is ready in the morning.
Nothing worse than hard lube.
Hope that helps.

So the honeymoon is over, being it's a new bike and your not married I would have thought you would keep it in the lounge room in front of the heater so you can admire it all night and maybe throw your leg over in the ad break. That way when you lubed it (also in front of the heater) you wouldn't have any problem with application.
