Details:

I'm going to do a loop starting and finishing at Wisemans Ferry.

It follows the GNR until Mogo campsite then loops back on unsealed roads. Time permitting, we could call in for a meal and beer at St Albans pub.

Here's the route I'm going to follow:-

Start time is flexible but don't really want to start much later. Earlier would be fine though.

Thanks to Gareth for the strava link. Laughing out loud

We did basically that loop last Friday. It's much tougher than it looks going by the numbers. All the climbing is in the first 40km - Mogo to Wisemans is easy back-country gravel roads with a bit of tar here and there. The track from 10 Mile Hollow to Mogo is very overgrown, with many trees down along the way. It's a great ride but just be careful of all the derailleur munching sticks.

Has anyone done this recently? I was thinking of doing it this Sunday morning but not keen on going alone if it's still not easily passable - being stuck out in the middle of nowhere on my own wouldn't be favorable!

A whole bunch of people doing the convict 100 rode through this area back in August, so it is indeed passable.

Regardless of the chance of a mechanical rendering you a "hiker" rather than a rider.. This area is remote enough and technical enough that you should consider not riding alone as it could be a long wait for someone to come along to assist you should you have an ouch moment.

I'd carry something like a spot tracker if I was doing this alone, in fact I probably will do this track alone sometime in the future, but again with a suitable tracking "rescue me now" device.

Would like to give this a crack at some stage, but I'm going to need to work back up to it again after tweaking my back last weekend.

It's a great area up that way. The 60km loop I did a couple of years back with spindog, Lach, a couple of locals and Geoff63 was tough, but really good fun. The views and riding somewhere a long way from anywhere was a bit of an adventure; a great change from riding the same old trails or around in circles.

Keep me posted.
