Which is more technical between Gahnia and Serrata

Having ridden Gahnia recently on the 2nd (after a big new years eve and day seemed my sense of balance left me)
Found Gahnia to be a excellent trail but very technical which tested my courage.
For those who have ridden both new trails in Gahnia and Serrata which in their opinion is the more technical trail?

I thought Gahnia was harder. it certainly took my breath away first time down. More so than Serratta.

Having said that. Is it more technical?....or just a tad more frightening?

I reckon Gahnia is a bigger test. In my mind maybe because the margin for error and impact is greater.
I'm barely intermediate level (can get around MD without unclipping but not up the rocks at the beginning of Possums). I went OTB on the Gahnia chute last go (have made it once too). I haven't done those short, steep drops in the middle.
I found Serrata just as tight but the impact of error doesn't seem as serious and all up it's more do-able.
Interestingly some of the guys I went around with last time who are way way better than me were saying Serrata is more technical?
IMO from a courage/impact of error I vote Gahnia harder.
Disclaimer - I haven't got through either without unclipping so the views of those far better than me should count for more.

I think your view still counts. Especially so. Just because you unclip. doesn't make your opinion less than mine. In fact I think you nailed it with margin of error and impact is greater.

I reckon they're pretty close but I'm giving my vote to Serrata. Gahnia has quite a tricky initial chute but having ridden it a few times I feel it's less scary than it looks. the rest of Gahnia may force the odd unclip or two but it should hopefully not kill you.

The consequence of stuffing up on the big double drop/roll-off on Serrata is just as bad IMO (though there may be a B-line there? not sure). I find the downhill, off-camber switchbacks of Serrata quite tricky too.

I say that Gahnia is more technical, however trying to do the first bit of Serrata at 'Strava' speed is very technical

I do not unclip

And have been now pushed back to 13th Sad

If ts the one I'm thinking I'm sure there is a B-line to the left

I think they're similar in terms of the difficulty/technicality level, it's just that Gahnia has more of it and is longer. Serrata is a fire road climb back out, where's Gahnia adds in more technical uphill climbing.

Was to make Gahnia more technical but due to constraints in construction they ended up more close in difficulty.

This often happens once you start digging. For example at OMV below Quarry Road the easier and harder lines had their ratings swapped during construction. Once the spades were in the dirt it got too hard to make the easy line easier and the tech line technical.

Serrata has b-lines on the key big features which makes it by definition less technical as easier options are provided.

They are different styles of tracks though. Serrata descends whereas Gahnia overall does not and has short tech up hill and a bigger entry.

Serrata because of the sustained descending nature has higher potential for speed which makes the track more challenging than its rating if ridden faster but easier if slower. The optional speed obviously also increases the consequence. This is part of the beauty of the trail is it provides challenge for a broad range of riders.

Garnia for sure.
Had 4 good runs on there without dabbing. 5th run started to find some speed, round a corner to a front wash-out. Bloody slid town a little 4m cliff. Took me 5 minutes to get back up to my bike. Lolz all round Smiling

In a nutshell I reckon Serrata is more techy but you need bigger testicles to ride Gahnia
