Pop-up blockers

I've been noticing the last few weeks that I keep getting a little dialog popping up asking me to turn off my ad blocker.

I'm happy to be advertised to, I know it helps support the site.

The reason I run a pop-up ad blocker is for security reasons, having suffered a drive-by rootkit malware infestation a couple of years ago that was extremely troublesome to eradicate. It was picked up from a sudden flood of pop-up ads from a dodgy site that pretty much took over my machine at the time, forcing me to hit the power button to regain control of my machine. This despite running up-to-date antivirus product.

So, no, I won't be turning off the ad blocker any time soon.

Other sites manage to show advertising links unobtrusively on the page (eg bicycles.net.au) that I can see and click through despite my ad blocker.

Can we not do the same here?

I also run adblocker and had the dialog boxes and i also like supporting fellow nobmobers so all i did was allow this domain to show pop ups.

The adds are very subtle and its usually for worthwhile stuff so theres no issue allowing the popups on the nobmob domain.

Problem solved, everybody's happy.

We don't have pop-ups here. There are some very small, non-animated ads on the left (or in the footer on mobile). It does go some way to helping not just this site, but some other smaller clubs too.

As someone else has said, it's easy to add an exception in your ad-blocker list to no block here. Please do this, there's absolutely no security issues with doing so and the little message (which is intentionally way more annoying than the actual ads themselves) will disappear.

No option to turn off for particular sites on the native browser on my S4. Chrome locks up continually with this site so I rarely use it. All software is up to date.

looks like it's either on or off .. no option to selectively allow trusted sites?

I run a pop up blocker but have never had an issue with it playing up with nobmob or the associated global riders network. Could there be something else going on?
