Ballarat

Just finishing up in Ballarat had a great time riding the local trails, which aren’t well sign posted so local knowledge is a must. I can recommend Cyclescape (Trek) and Gove Cycles (Specialized) as great places to get some inside info on the local trail network.

The XC tracks about the place are a work in progress and currently local riders are working on formalising the trails, so don't expect world class groomed trails; however, it's still worth a look if travelling through the area.

If you are into downhill, there is a great series of tracks at Black Hill which is only about 3km out of town.

And a good day ride is the Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail, 54km in length, one way; it's a great way to see the countryside.
