National Marathon Champs
Its always soooo badly advertised when compared to the 'big' events like Convict or The Fling, but I thought those that didnt already know would be interested to learn that this weekend is the National Marathon Champs in Derby, Tasmania, on the brand spanking new trails out there (which are already being talked about as the best in Australia).
As you would expect, lots of big names, and strong legs will on the start-line, and I have no doubt it will be a massively hard race.
Myself and @Dicko are heading over, and there is a rumour a couple of other Nobmobbers will also be making the trip at the last minute.
Elite mens race is 90km, and the Elite women and Masters men race for 70km. Word from the course is that it rides slowish, so the 90km for Elite men is expected to take 4.5hrs (20kph average is amongst the slowest of any races of the year).
Here is a little preview done by Mike at MarathonMTB, I'll let you know how it all went on Monday!

What an amazing race, town, set of trails and event.
So much fun.
I can whole-heartedly recommend Derby as a weekend riding destination for people. 90mins drive from Launceston.
I have also done a little review of my activities on the weekend I hope you enjoy reading about it - I've been a bit quiet on the 'race review' front of late...
