Magura brake issue
NB: Originally posted elsewhere on the Global Riders Network and appears via syndication.
Can anybody suggest how to fix Magura mt6 brakes when the pistons (and pads) do not move sufficiently to engage the rotor? When depressing the lever the pads move inward a normal distance but on release the pads simply return to their original position. No leaks are evident. Thanks

Buy some shimano brakes and replace them
Me too, mine failed on the weekend before the Cape to Cape. Bike shops were all booked out to get it fixed, no one had Magura bleed kits to sell me and it turned out the chamber was stuffed anyway. XT saved the day.
Probably not what you want to hear but I also got the shits with my MT4s so binned them and bought XTs.
Bite the bullet and do it, you'll not regret it.
I had a lot of issues with mine mt6 as well. Awesome brakes when working but way too temperamental. As others did, I replaced mine but with Avid X0 Trails.
Thanks guys, valuable suggestions
I had the MT6 for a year and they were reliable up until the year mark but completely useless, I swapped to cheap Shimano(new off a Stumpy) which were worse than the Mag and now run Sram Guide brakes. The Guide is by far the cheapest brake I have owned and also the best, bite point would have been nice but you can't expect that on an entry level brake.
Magura are pretty awesome with warranty so you could hit up the new distributor which is some horrid e-bike importer.
