2 Laps - Bangaroo Start
Hi all,
I've only been riding since the middle of April after one of my mates hounded me into trying mountain biking. I started on a borrowed Trek Fuel 26" from 2006 and managed a one-off flat out lap of 37:30.
A few months of training and a new 29er later, I returned to have another crack at Manly, but to test myself over 3 laps - Strava link below - I've used the "Bangaroo Start" segment, as the Manly Dam x2 segment on Strava cuts out the final climb on the street back to the school.

Started and finished at the school and was pretty consistent across the 3 laps. Having seen the hot lap times, I think I need to have a crack at a single and then a double lap. That said, with my limited bike handling skills, my improvement would be limited to the road and fire-trail sections.
For the record, I used to be a decent distance runner, so despite having not actually trained for anything for 10 years (I'm 32 now), my base level is probably higher than average.
I'm going to keep training and hopefully post back next time I take on Manly Dam, with some improvement.
Cheers,
Andrew O'Neill

That's a blistering pace especially for a relative newbie... Can't wait to see your "improved" effort. Top marks
