Was riding along the Nursing Home ridge track above Manly Dam yesterday and was waiting for the resident psycho Magpie to come after me. He's about the most persistent and aggro one I know.
No sign of him at this stage but he can't be too far away.
There's normally 3 hotspots on my route from home to the Dam but all clear so far. This next week of warm weather coming up is probably gonna bring them all out though.
Had my first swooping of the season today - 3 times at Seaforth. As you head over the Spit Bridge and climb Battle Blvd, you do that sharp U turn at the top. I usually then keep going along Ponsonby Pde and today after the bus stop as the road rises slightly and sweeps right I got attacked.
After the U turn at the top of Battle Blvd many people turn right again for a flat section with views back over the Spit Bridge - I'll be doing that now and hopefully the magpies can be avoided.
Haven't experienced the one on Military Rd just after the Cremorne Hotel yet this year......

Didn't know about that one.
There's a persistent one at Millers Reserve along Campbell Parade that usually gets me on the way to work in the mornings.

I heard a crack on my helmet there last night. I wasn't sure if it was just a seed dropped by the tree or a magpie.
Might be time to pull out the GoPro for dome wildlife footage
