Due to 50+ mm of rain in the area in the last two days I am out on my mtb riding on the road ( for which neither the bike nor rider is particularly suited,) when I notice six cars parked close to the start of the local "secret" track.

I take a squizzy and sure enough they've ridden into the trail, including an instructor from Sydney bike skills.

Now I don't mind riding in the wet and I am definitely not arrogant enough to tell people not to ride in the wet "cause they'll damage their drive chain etc.

However when water is literally flowing down the trail head and there is a sign stating Track Closed when Wet, I figure enough is enough.

Three days ago this trail (one of the best in Sydney) was damp and had a few seriously soft areas, and after the last two days of storms it is way too wet to ride.
So if you are thinking of heading off in a Northerly direction for a ride try something else and spare a though for the guys that give up their time to build and maintain such a great track.
Oh and while I am on my soap box, take your rubbish out with you please, it's not a tip Eye-wink.

Time for my meds.

Don't ride muddy trails, you'll trash your drive train. Eye-wink

Rode McCarrs, St Ives, and for the first time the Bobbin Head loop and Galston Gorge both directions this morning on the roadie.

Thousands of riders out including LOTS of mountain bikers out getting a workout on the road, some of whom were having a crack at serving it up to the roadies on the climbs - and succeeding. Good fun, that. Evil

Apart from the fact the trail was smooth, hard and black, the scenery was spectacular, even if Bobbo was misty, and the trail was twisty. Why you would want to do route that locked away behind glass in an air conditioned box I don't get. Life is better on a bike.

HUGE fun that....
Double Points if you overtake a roadie up a hill and they have shaved legs or a bike worth more than your car!
Triple if its an A grade peloton Smiling
Kudos if your MTB has lots of squeaks and rattles and they hear you coming

Just about everybody's bike is worth more than my car! Sticking out tongue

... if you overtake them, apparently....

With all the debris, gravel and water on the roads this morning it was almost like going off road.
