NoBMoB xmas ride 2016
The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Park opposite/beside Terrey Hills shops, corner Booralie Rd/Yulong Ave. Or in the small carpark next to the RFS station & community centre.
Last year's event was great fun that saw hot temps, an elite rider discovering the joys of social riding and a select few conquering the "Long Trail pinch". Hope you can make the 2016 edition which promises more of the same i.e. a relaxed ride from Terrey Hills shops along Perimeter and Long Trails and back again.
There will be a 22 or 30km option on the day - the 22km is a popular choice and features some lovely riding along the Ku Ring Gai NP ridgeline, whilst the latter breaks off on the return leg and takes us through some of Terrey Hills steepest descents and ascents as well as the awesome Muppets trail.
Whichever option you chose I guarantee you'll have a great morning out on the bike with likeminded guys and girls. Please bring your own spares and nutrition including enough water for the trip - there are taps at the starting point if required.
Tinsel and santa hats optional...@BlackFlash normally brings enough for the group

Thanks again @sikllama for organising this ride, it's always a great day
In
I'll see how I'm going closer to the day but I might come along
West Head race is on so I can't make it
Come on Brian, you could finish that race, go home, shower & change into your MTB gear, ride up to Terrey Hills and still catch them before the Long Track turnoff
I'm sure you're good enough to warrant a handicap anyway?
Thanks for organising! Very much looking forward to it.
If anyone is riding up or driving from Manly let me know and we can go up together.
Thanks
Andy
Hero dirt has been loaded onto the sleigh. Due to be delivered Sunday morning, right before we ride.
See you Sunday!
Hi,,, replying to the Christmas ride...
Just by chance I saw this was on, I've never ridden the area or with any of the organised rides as yet...
Just reading about descent and climb, are these do-able on an xc bike with a medium capable rider who can't jump?
Sorry,, I'm Neil.
the 22km ride out to the end of the Long Track has a few relatively small pinches, but no real hills up or down. The extended ride, if it is the same as I understand they did last year (I only did the shorter version), involves a drop into one of the valleys and a fair old climb back out (which I will be walking). Not sure if we'd come back the same way as there is a flatter option to get back to the original meeting point. I'll be on a XC dually and most of the tracks I've done on a fully rigid bike years ago and a hard tail as well, so any sort of XC bike should be pretty OK. Nothing really gnarly.
Hi all - forecast between now and Sunday is for very little rain and a sunny Sunday morning - hopefully the rain we've had this week has settled the dust and sand on the trails!
As others have said Neil anyone and everyone, with all types of bikes, are welcome and will do fine. Perimeter and Long trails were the 2nd ever ride i did - perfect for all levels.
See everyone Sunday!
Okay, I'm in. I'll dust off the mtb and see you at TH.
to accompany from Manly but apparently my sense of direction is so bad I need someone to lay a string or a breadcrumb trail or I'll get lost.
Sorry peeps, whole family has had a visit from the gastro fairy overnight so I am well and truely out this morning.
Have a great ride and Merry Christmas!
.... good ride, albeit a tad early for me these days Merry Christmas to all....
Cheers to the organiser & thanks for putting up with me for the ride today,, totally enjoyed it... From riding to the scenic lookout to the depth of the valley,,, gonna make it a goal to get up there monthly & increase the k's comfortaby.. as told there's much more to scope,,, great diverse traning ground you have there...
Neil.
It was good. I felt a bit of pressure to make it up the pinch at the end of Long with Black Flash on my wheel
