This year I am participating in the 5 day West Cycling classic which raises money for the Westpack helicopter.

While I hope I never have to use the rescue chopper I'm extremely grateful this service exists and the club did, in fact call on it's services at one of the DH races at the Statemine a few years back

Anyway I'm hoping people will be willing to throw a few dollars my way to put towards the donation. If you are able to donate please visit the sponsor page at

https://cycleclassic2017.gofundraise.com.au/page...

The team I am in has set a goal of raising $20 000 and Any contribution towards this goal would be greatly appreciated.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service is a vital community service with its missions always increasing.

In the past twelve months their helicopters and crew have conducted over 1,200 life saving missions.

These missions include transporting doctors & paramedics to accident scenes to stabilise and prepare patients for hospital transfers, transferring patients from rural hospitals and health centres to larger metropolitan hospitals, search and rescue missions and assisting police.

No one has ever paid to be assisted by the Service and that is hugely because of the fundraising and support of you, the community.

Thanks to every one who donated.

Just under 30 riders took part. Between us and corporate sponsorship we managed to raise over $100k for the chopper services.

While government support keeps the choppers running it is events like this and volunteer donations that ensures the rescue service is keep free of charge for those who use it.

Presentation is not to May and apparently donations a still open until then.

It was a great, if some what wet ride. I'l do a write up of it once I finish washing the mud out of my bits....
