Oxford Falls - Freeride and technical funness
Morgan Road, Belrose. At the second 90 degree right hand bend in the road. There's an area just before you can park and a firetrail heading off to the left.
Greetings!!
I will be riding the downhill / freeride trails at Oxford Falls on Saturday morning. Will look to do a few hours worth. Anyone interested is more than welcome to come along. I am doing my best to ensure there will be at least one shuttling vehicle available. I will know more on that over the next couple of days.
These trails are mainly for the skilled, the brave, or just plain stupid. Probably not suited to a noob rider. Having said that, some of the trail branches are quite accessible to a stock XC bike so if you are interested in learning, do come along.
Meet me in the open dirt carpark area on Morgan Rd. I will be in a blue Mazda.
Hopefully will see you there!!
Were you there and have a story to tell?

New in NobMob but been hitting Oxford Falls every weekend for the last 3 weeks!!! It will be great to meet some people and is likely that I will be there on Saturday!!!
Glad to hear there is interest out there!! Come along and hit some drops.
I will be at OF on that morning with another group from DY bike shop , It is in great shape at the moment I have been riding it a lot this week.
See yoall there .
All going to plan, I will be picking up a new (to me) bike tomorrow arvo, so this will be a perfect first outing for it. I can't wait.
I haven't ridden much of the rough stuff down there before, so I might be a little slow and/or n00bish.
What new (to you) bike did you get mate?
I haven't handed over the cash for it yet, so it's probably best I don't get too carried away. For the same price I could be getting a brand new Stinky - I'm still not sure I'm doing the right thing. Oh well.
I read on F@rkin that a dude had to be resuscitated on the weekend. He did 7 ribs and was knocked out and not breathing after crashing from clearing the steel jump.
Fortunately I don't have to worry about the jump as yet! Way too big for my capabilities but yeah, you can seriously hurt yourself on that one if you crash!!!
i will come along for a bit -but probably won't be there at 8, have heaps to do - Caro do you want to share the Stinky and I will take Mildred as well?
MEEE
ps no way am i JUMPING off stuff that sounds that horrible!
Unfortunately Caro is working on Saturday morning. But will drop by at lunchtime to be social.
I will see you when I see you. You know where to find us!!
if it's like last time i will hear you guys talking! otherwise, i can NOT be blonde and simply wait at the carpark for your arrivals...guessing if Caro isn't there i will be on the Stinky (good lord!) - maybe i can leave it with her to use after I go - I have to do horsey stuff in the afternoon...
Wow what carnage today. Thanks for organising the ride Liam.
So what's the tally:
Rob: stuffed knee
Kenny: fractured toe
Bruce: got intimate with his stem
Liam: broken deraileur and several spokes
myself: massive graze on side of leg. But at least I got a new pair of pants out of it
Get well soon everyone!
Well done to Christine who now has the gravity bug
go hard or go to canberra hospital for a week!!!! otherwise, get fit and dont be ashamed of licra, xc racing or slick tyres!! you know you wanna!
That's pretty bad, did you guys have a good time though?
I couldn't make it today as had a big night last night and couldn't wake up early. Decided to hit the Dam and I also had a bad crash on the last section of the trail. Stuffed my left ankle and bent one of my pedals.
Hope everyone recovers quickly!
Oh don't worry Gazza I'll be getting on my XC bike tomorrow hopefully to keep fit. Just having fun learning a different MTB discipline. Good seeing you out today. All that lycra is not for me though I think
Yes I believe we all had fun today. Steep learning curve though!
Met up with the kids after and all were grinning from ear to ear, proudly telling their stories ;-)and after a visit to the bike shop plans for the next time were subject no 1
I still did just over 120km on the road yesterday
Thanks all for a fun day.
Carnage indeed. The bad one is Kenny with the compound fracture of his big toe. Nasty stuff. Not sure if they will put a pin in to help it heal straight. Rob was getting an MRI today to confirm what kind of ligament/cartlidge/bone damage was done to his knee. He'll let me know, but i reckon he would have done some ligament damage, for sure. I am glad Rob and Kenny bailed when they did, no sense in making anything worse. My beast sheared a rear derailleur off and wound through the spokes, shearing 5 spokes and turning it into a bit of a taco. But not too bad. This gives me the chance to take it to the shop and get the Saint '09 brakes that I wanted. So as Buck said, not all bad. Plus an e.thirteen 2 ring chainguide will be on there as well. That thing will rock.
Gaz, there is only off road riding. We stay off road where it is safe.
I thought the timing of all their accidents was simply perfect because I was so hungry! It was a brillant morning though and thank you all for your patience and Pete for the guided tour oh! and Buck for the entertainment - he goes down this part telling me it's fine and just to roll it and as I came along all I saw were some legs cartwheeling through the air and Ben landing embracing a tree!!
Hope you all heall soon!
Lunch was great too!!
MEEEE
Saturday was tops. And I got intimate with the ground on the simplest of jumps! Many thanks to Liam for organising, Bruce and Christine for shuttles and everyone involved for attending. Riding with a good crowd is great. My pizza for lunch at the pub was also great.
I really like Oxford Falls. Really.
