SOCIAL Ourimbah Nightride!
North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.
By popular request: SOCIAL Ourimbah Night Ride!
One recon lap starting at 6 PM, followed by 2 night laps once it's dark.

Bring your beverages for a social drink afterwards...
Suggest to organise car pools with "designated drivers"...and to save $$/carbon fuels...

Who needs night vision I will just bring my own personal pair of suns.
Meh
We do DH night runs on more techi trails than ourimbah.
It's fun
Maybe at this stage
just thought everyone might like to know Ourimbah is now fully open again, with a few little surprises thrown in.the drop off is open but be careful first time round as it now has 2 steps in it.graveyard has also been re-opened with a couple of extra bridges in place, there is also a new fun berm on the roller coaster.Did a 6hour race there yesterday twas good fun.
car pooling? I just realised it's this Saturday.. god time flies hey!
it seems i am confused about my work/social life.. i am probably not going to make this ride after all - sorry, but i have to be at Kurrajong early Sunday morning for an antique fair (thrilling i know) and as i have worked the last two weekends i really need some time at home, as well as i have to visit a girlfriend who has just had a baby...
am rather disappointed because i think this ride will be such fun
for the fist lap at least, am trying to borrow some lights off a friend to do the later laps, hopefully should be all good, see you all there.
you my lights if you like - i can send them up with one of the others - they are really good...but you wil have to send them back the same night as i will need them for next week!
for your offer that is very kind, but my friend has said it's o.k to borrow his lights.
thanks again John
What is this nonsense? Visiting a person because a baby has been born? Going somewhere Sunday morning has an effect on Saturday evening?
Follow my advice;
1.Place bike in ute.
2.Drive to Ourimbah.
3.Ride.
4.Place bike in ute.
5.Drive home.
6.Eat, shower, go to bed etc.
7.Wake up next day, drive to Kurrajong.
8.Whilst driving, using hands free, talk with person with baby. Suggest toys and games featuring bicycles and/or bicycle products. Babies like bells...
Planning to hit up Ourimbah in the afternoon. It's only 1 hour from my place. Will stop at the car park at 6pm. I might bring some lights, but might not head off before dark.
I'll be there in the afternoon if anyone is keen to do some training laps before the social stuff.
I'm out. Have a great ride.
How we looking for this arvo/evening?
"Saturday: Cloudy with a few showers. Chance of a thunderstorm. Moderate south to southeast winds, fresh along the coast. "
Think it will be dry enough?
Any Central Coaster's (Bluray, unclebullbar) online? - can you please give us a local weather update for Ourimbah?
Thx, Hans

at present haven't had much rain up this way & Ourimbah does handle showers quite well.
I've just got an update from our local expert John (Bluray)... and he said the sun is coming through at the moment.
So at this stage it is still GO for the twilight / nightride. The track is mainly dry.
John will post another weather update at 3 PM this arvo (thx).
I'll probably head up early to be there at ~ 4:45 PM to go for a couple of laps with Bluray and my son Benji and then meet up with the gang at the carpark ~ 6 PM.
See you there!

Hi Hans,
new to the group, been on 2 social rides only.
What's the pace in the arvo, training or med to fast?
And how long should I allow to get there?
Thanks
Sam
Sorry coming from Carlingford
pace in the arvo will be medium-fast but will wait if needed. On time from carlingford not sure but allow about 50 mins from end of expressway
Hi Sam
Welcome to the ride!
Pace is "social" i.e. suitable for everyone. At a group this large there will always be some faster guys in a separate group, with the main mob at a more "normal" speed.
Nobody gets left behind...
Re Directions - check the original post at the top and click on "directions there" - this is a great feature that gives you door-to-door directions (Thx to Rob and Google maps). Should take you no longer than 50 mins from Carlingford - just watch for the right exit. Or better - offer or join a carpool with other 'mobbers (post here).
Full info on Ourimbah is here. http://nobmob.com/rides/ourimbahstateforest Print out directions if you drive. Take my mobile (in profile) in case you get lost.
See you up there.

2 seats and space on bike rack available.
Leaving 3:45 PM from East Lindfield (near Chatswood) and returning EARLY approx. 7:30 PM from Ourimbah.
Should give us plenty of time for 3 daytime/twilight laps. Have to return early as I am driving with my son. Back in Lindfield ~ 8:30 PM.
Call on mobile if interested.

Keep going past the Ourimbah Interchange - you will get lost using that.
You want the left exit ramp off the F3, at the Tuggerah Interchange.
Thanks for that Hans
I'm up for the arvo ride as well, I have a Hiace van so anybody is welcome to ride we me, or I'm happy to ride with them.
I'm from Victoria (pls don't hold that against me) so it always takes me a little longer.
Thanks
Sam
thanks mate hopefully I'll find the group.
At 1:55pm it's cloudy and muggy with a slight breeze picking up. Hasn't rained since early morning. Wish I could ride with you guys but the Herniated Disc says no. Apparently, the boys from CBD built some crazy berms on the Roller Coaster and the lead up to the Drop-Off. The Graveyard has some 'sketchy' (2nd hand report) bridges through it to make it a little challenging and drier. The lap is around 11 km now.
Hans feel free to text me if you get dragged away from the computer and need another update.
BWOAR!
the sketchy graveyard bridges have been removed now and the holes they went over filled in, there are also some new berms in the graveyard.
weather at the moment is overcast a few very light showers & humid, thunder can be heard in the distance though.track as reported to me by a friend who has just finished riding at Ourimbah is mainly dry with the usual puddles & boggy bits.
Thanks for organising Hans. That was so awesome.
Cannot wait till the Fat Tyre next weekend!
really enjoyed this ride, thanks to Hans for organising it,enjoyed the company & the thrill of night riding (my first time) only downer was the lost bolt out of my seat ( but easily replaced) will try & come down for a terry hills night ride over christmas break. See some of you guys next sunday @ the fat tyre festival.
Thanks Hans for organising the ride & getting me there after I took a wrong turn.
I had a great time, everybody was very welcoming, plus it is a super track (can't wait to do it again).
thanks Pikey for constantly taking the A lines, I can see you were very concerned about my safely.
Thanks for organising it Hans, and providing pre-ride inspiring movies.
I'll get some improved lighting soon. Leech info: http://www.wettropics.gov.au/st/rainforest_explo...
