Mtb overnighter

The meeting times are 'ready to ride'. If you need time to prepare equipment then please arrive a few minutes earlier.
Woodford railway station car park south side
Well the date is set the never held before summer edition MTB overnighter, but really it's gunna be a lot like the winter one except warmer.
We will be catching the train from Woodford to Wentworth Falls and it leaves Woodford at 8:54 am.
Due to popular demand it's largely unchanged, I did think we could ride down the Ingar fire trail instead of Andersons this time as many people have not done this one before. Expect steep downhills, jumps and very fast times down to Bedford creek and then the same climb out we do for Andersons. This will leave ample time for an early lunch break before hitting the sweet single tracks in the area (always a crowd pleaser) then well take the cars to the camping area this is a no fees type and it has toilets and fire places.
I be bringing my gas BBQ like before so bring your Esky filled with food and drink. The next day we could do Dawes ridge single track again, this is where long sleeves and eye wear are highly recommended as it's a bit over grown but I'm hoping to trim it back before the day, this track is awesome and not too long as so people can get home and unpack.

Carlgroover | An absolute ball | I had a blast on the weekend with so many happy and appreciative riders doing the same, we got to the single track and split into 2 groups the XT's and the XTR's, I was fortunate to have Alex helping me and he led the XTR's out at a good pace both... |
Were you there and have a story to tell?

there are lots of shops to go to up here, Hazelbrook probably the best it has a butcher
4 burner BBQ and if you Anke and cRAZY Canuck bring your webers that would be great as we'll have more space for onions, mushies, eggs etc. I have a 2nd 9kg gas bottle Anke but bring your gas hose in case the connections on the barbie are different.
Alex I don't think we'll need 2 large barbies, I'll talk John W about though.
Substance, bring your lunch/snacks in your backpack but we can go to shops if need be but it's a little out of the way during the ride, but I think it would be a good idea to head to the bakery/burger shop immediately after.
There is a butcher and small supermarket at Hazelbrook but I better check their hours as they are a bit casual in Hazo, it would be better to bring your food and alcohol in an esky as the shops are likely to disappoint.
Cheers.
The Sunday ride I had planned to do is a great ride but has a little too much fire rd to get to the good bit so we have some where better to ride, details on the day. But I will say it's more sniggle. Yee Hah!
Yes, Alex and Supagav, you know.
Will do and bring BBQ with hose attached. If need the extra gas bottle, let me know. Otherwise, I'll leave it at home.
Mines not a flat plate though so it's not the greatest for onions, works a treat on meat though.
I have been riding out in this area and getting to know
the loop a little better, so should be a little treat.
If you like single track you will love this as it has
quite a bit of technical sections too.
It's all good bring the barbies, I have mostly flat plate on my one, I'll bring 2 gas bottles as I can imagine you might be pushed for space in your car Anke.
Alex, thanks for doing the track reconnaissance for Sunday, try and get a flowing loop worked out as with a large group we would be best to avoid too many walkie bits. Don't worry folks it's not as technical as Oxford Falls and Red Hill.
This ride also has a bakery ending.
What's a bakery ending?
A bakery ending? We go to a bakery at the end to buy food.
noones going to try and put a "bun in the oven"
The Butcher at Hazelbrook shuts at midday and the supermarket has next to no meat, possibly none when you get there and closes at 1pm. I am being kind when I say these shops are below average.
John.
Oh look, I've tried and tried but I can't write that on a family website......
Suffice to say Anke that I imagine it involves sweat, cream for some and a meaty filling for others.
With my kind of bakery ending a creme bun, is just a creme bun. You dirty sod.
Being Monday after the Fat Tyre I thought it a good day to go for a post race spin. Lucky for me I had organised with Carlgroover to go for said spin.
He showed me some excellent trails in the Blue Mountains area.
Thankyou very much John I had a top arvo!
Everyone on this ride will have a great time.
Whats the option if the weather is inclement?I dont mind riding in the wet,im more concerned about getting up that steep drive from the camp site if the rd is muddy....i also have a gas bottle and cooking type apparatus which i will bring as well.

doesn't seem too bad and I've never heard of anyone being stuck at the bottom of that hill in the rain, the surface is in good condition due to recent work and isn't a muddy consistency. If that all goes pear shaped smile nicely at Pikey with his big 4WD and buy him beer, he really likes it!
John.
Also if the weather is going to be a bit dodgy I'll bring the super tarp it's 20'X 24'.
good to see that it wont be raining to much...not that it matters
...sorry but I won't be able to come after all - my staffie had a large lump of cancer removed yesterday and I don't want to leave him for the weekend...
Physio told be that if a get a cut I won't be allowed in the operating theater (shoulder recon on Wednesday), which means my girlfriend and I won't be able to make it.
I'll have to try to link up with everyone for a ride at the end of Febuary
but will be there on saturday still. Too many commitments and too little time im afraid. Shame, i was looking forward to a few beers john. Maybe the next winter overnighter???

pity we have lost some riders, but heres a heads up to everybody...
my dad is super keen to join us on this ride and so is my neighbour and possibly one of my other dads friends
my dads fairly fit and strong but i cant remember the last time he rode a bike
but he is one of those people that just keep pushing and pushing and not give into the pain barrier....tough man shit
our neighbour...woudlnt exactly call him on the fit side...and another i have no idea when he last rode a bike
so if they slow us down....lets leave them behind
A reasonable level of fitness will be needed to do this ride as most coming would ride 2-6 times a week and having more than 2 groups would be hard as each group will need a guide.
John.
yeah i kinda figured some sort of fitness would be required
i will pass that info onto my dad and our neighbour, see how they take it
howdy
can somebody please confirm for me that we are still meeting at the train station to get the 8.54am train.
and that were going for the ride even if its raining...
thanks!
Carlgroover said somewhere that we are meeting at the station, but we're not getting the train. Intead we'll be riding from there to hit some single trails.
John, can you please confirm...
Cheers
Anke
Hi,
so john does not have to answer another question about this.
Everyone is meeting at WOODFORD train station at 8:54AM
we are NOT catching the train instead going straight to some single
tracks.
Confirmed,
Alex
nice one!
thanks
see you tomorrow morning.
Won't that mess up your hair?

Lucky you've got sponsors hey mate!!
Any reports on what it's like at the moment?
i must get myself a pernament perm for the weekend then
so it's weather proof lol
We've had some rain up here but it's stopped and the clouds are breaking up, the forecast says it's clearing so it's all systems go and once more, we were going to catch the 8.54am train at Woodford but we are not going to catch the train now and I'm scared to change anything else, so the time is 8.54am on the south side of Woodford station same as always.
John.
Unfortunately, I cannot get the hose disconnected from the gas bottle, which means I won't be able to transport the BBQ in the car. One of those times I could do with a guy in the house.
We've just cancelled work for tomorrow, is this still a social ride? Not sure of he terrain, rode in the night ride at Ourimbah forest a few weeks ago, is this the level of ride?
Anke13, If I come along, I have a HiAce van if that helps.
We'll be fine with 2 barbies. Don't worry.
John.
Just saw your post, this is not a hard ride and we will have 2 groups based on fitness.
Cheers John.
Thanks John, see you all there!!
Sam
for another fantastic weekend in the Blue Mountains. Also thanks to Morgan for lending me his tent and everyone for else for making it such a fun ride.
See you all soon
Anke
29th Woodford Pictures uploaded.
awesome pics Jeeten
really glad you got a pic of me riding over that car
love it
but the physio told me its 50/50 whether I am fit for our planned NZ trip over Christmas. B**ger. Still, crashing apart it was a great weekend, and thanks to John for organsing and Alex for reminding us how it used to be done before we all got so old...I'll post the bruise when its developed a few more colours.
I was sorry to see you have to limp home after the rather nasty crash, did the handlebar damage the muscle?
John.
thanks John and Alex for showing us such beautiful tracks!!!!
Sophie, I hope your bruise is ok...was nice to meet you and !!take care aye
cya guys when I get back from NZ (it is raining here now)
