Hornsby XC track update
Email just received from Hornsby Council:
Thank you for your submission regarding mountain bike trails in the Draft Unstructured Recreation Strategy. Based on the level of support that has been shown by the community there is a strong demand for off road mountain bike trails. A report regarding the submissions received during the public exhibition period will be considered by Council at the December Ordinary Meeting on the 10th December 2008.
I should point out that funds have not been identified to develop any off road mountain bike trails by Council. The Unstructured Recreation Strategy was developed to provide a policy and strategic direction for the management of (present and future) unstructured recreation facilities in the Shire.
Your submissions have identified that there is a strong demand for off road mountain bike trails and this will be reinforced in the report which will go to Council in December.
kind regards

Could we see a rythm track or similar built somewhere,eg the brickpit at thornleigh - though I suspect a golf driving range may get precedence.
We probably could but I'm the wrong person to message with this - the Hornsby mountain bike association are the folks you should be talking to as they've formed a group to work with council to get the track progressed.
Apparently an email is about to go to all registered users of HSMBA in the next few days (I think) to ask people what they would like. You can register here: http://hsmba.info/ to get on that list.
already registered - I phrased it as a question. it was meant to be whimsically rhetorical. Awaiting next installment
I geddit now.
HSMBA are looking for locations for a trail head in the local area that can lead off to various trails. Near the trail head is regarded as the appropriate location to base such items as beginners loop, pump, DJ, and a couple of trials obstacles etc. DJ, pump and Beginners loop has been suggested for the Brickpit, however the general feeling is that it would fragment things and we would lose the MTB Park theme that appears to be in demand. Unfortunately the Brickpit does not link so well with available XC options etc
The email should be going out any day now.
Do you know where there is a decent pump track in Sydney? or Northern Sydney?
in his back yard but i think it would be a bit rude to disclose the location.(not far from manly dam though!)
Time to go door knocking then!
darn - I thought that was the johavah witnesses again. I'll join, I'll join!!
squidly has a pump track? bast#@rd-
Has he got turnstiles for a side gate yet? Man, I'll pay $2 for 1/2 hour.
