2008 NSW Mountain Bike Masters
North End of Red Hill Rd, Ourimbah State Forest. There's a large-ish parking area here, just off the main sealed road. There is also a smaller parking area a little further (400m or so from the road) where the trail splits - this second area is the usual meeting point. If you end up driving up a steep hill you've gone too far.

Might do this but it would mean no trip to Lithgow the following weekend.
there's something to think about, fitness?
I'm probably being slow here but what exactly is this? A 3 lap race?
a 3 lap sprint would be more like it.
Cheers blu
It sounds hard core! What's the turn out like usually? I'm interested but also know that overtaking is tricky there, don't want to be holding up elites.
haven't done one before but a 37min lap's a sprint for me & I'm sure they will be quicker than that.
Short races like this are hard and fast and lots of fun I did a few 3 and 4 lap races this year and had a blast even when I didnt finish.
I've done some 2&3 lap races at Ourimbah they really test your strength & fitness, when finished you feel completely exhausted.that might have something to do with my fitness level too.
Where can you get tickets for this?
Retirement Village?
at the race if I here otherwise will post it
Sorry Shaun there's no child minding facilities you'll have to stay at home for this one
Masters DH is on the Sunday - also at Ourimbah, Shuttle busses and trailers will be provided. Cost $45
Practice starts Sunday morning, Best of 2 runs.
No one else is keen for this? Looks like a blast to me.
mustard for the DH on Sunday but am already committed to going to Stromlo for the CORC club DH.
This one is being run as a Super D format, combining the top part of the DH track with the berm track for one run, then the back tracks for another, should be a blast!
I still can't figure why no one else is doing this, which means I probably have something wrong. Steve, do you have any more info on the ticket situation? Or anything else come to that? Do I need a license? How many people are likely to be there etc...
https://commerce34.pair.com/tzone/events/nswmtb/...
You would need a day licence which is usually $15 from memory.
I'm spewing a little that I can't go, but the Stromlo DH will be a hoot!!
Well, we've just raced there, and there's a social ride next week, and what with this being silly season I've a lot of social stuff creeping in. All adding up to no racing at Ourimbah this weekend. Sorry
Round two of the Pivot summer enduro series is also on at Yellowmundee I am heading out they’re for that otherwise I would have been of to Ourimbah for the masters.
Cheers guys, that clears it up, thanks for the link too. I think I'll go down on the day and see what's happening then.
I really should sort myself out with a license I think, does anyone have info on how to do that? Just name will be fine.
That you want to be affiliated to i.e. MWMTB; TORC; WSMTB etc. and sign up...
There's a few NoBMoBers at various clubs, I suppose it comes down to where you live and whether a particular club's vision and activity levels should 'qualify' for the $10 or $20 bucks worth of total fee.
Alternately if you were planning on getting a road licence I would say get that first and you get a discount on your MTBA licence.
No way, you don't need a licence to ride on the road, just pedal out of your driveway - that's all there is to it.
Go Big or Go Home
on the day won't be racing but am going to have a look.
Hi Steve
Looks like it's me and you from the nobmob, I'll try to find your van when I get there. I'm hoping to be able to get a ticket there as well. Still have little idea what to expect, but if it all goes pear shaped I can still ride the downhill course
See you tomorrow.
should be fun,it's one of my favorite tracks
Dylan, I expect it will be similar to the 4 state rounds I did this year and I hit the podium in 3 of them and had a mechanical in the other, in those races there was about 8-20 riders per category and make sure you and Steve are near the front to start, do not be shy as you don't want be off to a slow start in a shortish race, Steve will podium if things go smoothly (no flats etc.) and you Dylan I don't know your age so may be in a faster bunch but you'll be near the front hopefully podium as well.
Also passing in these races is not so polite at times as a 100km race, so it's a sprint to the single track
Good luck guys smash 'em.
Will be trying to smash'em
Great, now I have other peoples expectations on my shoulders as well, how will I sleep tonight now
Works for me.
Carb relief??
