Its only six months away better get my entry in quicksmart.
Signed on and looking forward to it.
5 months of warm weather training will be bucket loads of fun for me!
Flynn
The organisers really are making it hard to justify entry... looks like the same course for the 3rd year running and nothing you can't ride at any other time
Entered for the 100 again, bring it.
Come on Rob, it was fun last time
Yeah, ok... it was fun... especially hearing you scream with crampy pain in the last river crossing
Thought you might remember that
Well, first time for me, so should be exciting.
Don't worry Rob, just keep your focuses on finish it hehe
Someone put it in the Calendar?
how long does it usually take for this to fill out?
and paid up, at least you know the entry will sell if you end up not being able to do it. They must get alot of interest collecting the cash 6 mths out from race day.
Will probably fill up by February.
because i have to pay for all these 24hours now so i wont have any money for a little while lol
There are always plenty of entries floating around if you miss out.
Well time to try another 100km race.
If I'm not mistaken I believe there were a few others that said they would do the 100km including Stuart M and Christine!
Cool..
4 of us then doing the DW 100 for the first time!
Promised my self I would not do another 100, but through a combination of peer pressure and beer I have broken that promise.
for the 50km!
awesome
I dont ride my bike, my bike rides me... we are currently in counseling...
Just registered for the 100km. This will be my first 100km event ever so it should be good.
entered and paid for, im in
Don
My first 'Veteran' race...
When do I qualify for a walker and post race blankie?
At 63ks through the Fling I clearly recall making a promise never to do another 100k EVER again. That promise seemed to make sence at the time but I cannot remember why now
I'm in and I'll be on a mission to get a good finishing time. If there is anyone out there who is intrested in a series of training rides leading up to the race, pls PM me. I'll cruise until end of jan and then start training again.
Second time at the dirtworks.
Still trying to beat the last page on the results sheet... maybe some training would help ?
See you guys there
CB
Shaun, anyone who doesn't make the podium gets a "walker and post race blankie", so you'll get yours on race day (he he he).
Don't take those sleepy old veterans too lightly, I've seen then post quicker times than the Opens
I think the veterans category is far more competitive than opens... I was referring to the category that the Lap Dancers are in...
I've signed up for the 100k - but I can't make up my mind whether to race my age category on a dually or enter the Single Speed category.
The 50k wouldn't be super difficult on a SS (except the first hill which I will walk anyway).
Can anyone tell me how difficult the other 50k is for a SS?
You know I am going to say this but really go the SS I think you will be suprised just how easy it is.
Doing the double!
I'll ride the Viper if you ride the SS.
We can suffer the indignity of sore a$%es together, but I won't be helping you apply any creams, I think thats Gazzas' job
As if you were going to ride the Enduro anyway!
Stuart you enter the 100k and I'll ride the SS.
If Stuart enters the 100 I'll do it on my 'big' bike
The only reason I wouldn't be doing the 100 DW this year is if the boss has to travel.
Besides, thats not really an interesting bet, I mean the seat on your big bike is probably more comfortable for you to rest your head on while waiting for the "slops bus" as the seat on the canondale.
Why didn't you make it interesting, like maybe do a nudey run down the last straight and across the finish line?
but common sense says do it on the Kona. Who knows, maybe N+1 by then
...I seem to recall a night ride which finished with a beer at the Tavern the other week and ended with you and I shaking hands that we would ride this 100k together - remember? AND!! Paul, Pikey and Gary all said they would ride with us for the whole 100ks just to hear us bicker our way around - now, I do believe men have some code about hand shakes don't they?!!
It is not just men who should honour any committment given with a handshake, women are also bound by this undertaking - so yes both of you should ride the 100 together.
Thank God I didn't shake hands agreeing to ride with you and Stuart for the whole 100k (the whinging would be monumental). I'll ride the first part with you (to the starting line) and then you are on your own.
"with you to the start line, then you're on your own"
Christine a hand shake is a hand shake, for me it is as good as my word so we didn't even need to shake hands.
As I said to Rob, the only reason I wouldn't be starting the DW 100 this coming year will be if the boss has to travel, and at that point in time, my responsibilities to my family will naturally take precedence.
Now Rob, you seem to have gone awfully quiet all of a sudden. Has the thought of pushing the Yeti up all those hills made you scared?
No... I've just been busy.
Think I'd gladly push that lardy old 575[1] up a few hills for the extra comfort and fun it would be on the rest of the course.
So you've registered, Stu?
[1] Yeah, all 12.x Kg of it
late tomorrow night, so I can check her work diary but it was all good this year so should be for 09.
Now what about that nudey run?
Rob I can loan you a real big bike
All 19kg of it....That way at least you may keep your arm in one piece going down Shepards Gully
but dont blame me if it starts to burn down there as i keep my bepanthen in the same place as my deep heat and the tubes look very similar!
Earth calling Gazza, what are you on about.
By the sounds of it!
the previous page paul. By the way, any chance of help with them maps on my 705?
Relax Paul, Gazza is just showing his true side to all. We've known about it for years.
What a brave man he is, offering to apply chamios cream to other blokes, and on such a brave forum.
Rob, how about we make that the bet, if I enter the 100, Gazza applies your chamios cream?
different thread i think? By the sounds of the conversation it might even be the wrong website? Nob something. Com?
His thoughts turn to Chamois cream
A few more and he thinks of who he can apply it to
A few more and he needs to share it with the world
It's a natural progression of alcohol fuelled thought processes
So let's get this straight... Stuart is asking for some sort of live show including 2 blokes and some chamios cream? Oh dear!
I never said I needed to see it.
I just want to see if you're prepared to put up?
Sure thing Gazza. I'm going to be installing a hangover on Friday night which should rule out doing most things on Saturday except groaning and feeling like shite.
How are you placed Sunday are you going to the Sunday morning jumpfest?
i have changed my entry to the double centurion, BMC then Dirtworks
Going to be a busy month
Mont 24hr April 5th
BMC 100 April 19th
Dirtworks 100 May 3rd
Guess i better start riding some more and get some fitness into me
Don
And Deb's doin' the 50.
