Bernd's picture

Ben, I would love to do that one, after the fun ride tonight!!!, but my wife will be away for 6 days, so I have 2 give it a miss... bugger!
Bernd

Buck's picture

Bernd, we'll see how we go next week and if it turns out to be OK then we'll do it again.

I just hope to come out of there in one piece Smiling

lozza6's picture

I've never done Red Hill before...

something tells me I shouldn't be doing it for the first time at night...?

Paul's picture

Lozza, someone with your expereince will be fine. We will probably just do the main fire trail which while technical isn't about launching.

Ben, what route will you be taking (I live at the "Itchy and Scratchy" end of Red Hill and I may ride in to meet you.

Buck's picture

I'm not sure of the names but up the main trail and into what Rob calls Corner Cut on his GPS maps I think. It's the sniggle which ends up just before this section:
THE launch (Lee)

Then down to the lake. Walk up hill and onto that pink rock roll down. Then round back to the cars through the jump park. I don't know the trails too well so open to suggestions on the night.

Paul's picture

If I interpret you properly, you will be;
Riding down the Main Trail, turning into Paulies (opposite Dougies place)
Going to the Motto Cross track and riding the Lower Ridge Run
Coming out half way down the Drop Zone, then riding to the dam
Climbing the hill or riding the sniggle.
Going through Garden of Gullies to the sand pit then riding the Main trail home.

Sounds good - definitely not for beginners and bring protection (if it's not on its not on)

christine's picture

it should perhaps start a bit earlier? it's not going to be a fast ride is it? Maybe a 7pm start? And we will certainly need a beer afterwards.
This ride is going to be such a laugh!

Buck's picture

Sounds about right Paul.

As for starting earlier. I only just made it to Oxford Falls by 7pm last night so I'll be struggling to make it to Red Hill much earlier than 7:20pm coming from Hornsby. Sorry Christine.

christine's picture

mind at all! i live 2mins down the road so 7.20 gives me time to eat first!

Bernd's picture

...sandwich again?
Bernd

christine's picture

i was so nearly sick riding up lizard rock hill last night - i shall have to re-think - or, the obvious and eat earlier... Smiling

christine's picture

do you want to start the weather conversation now? it rained all last night and is raining as i speak... heee hee

Buck's picture

For that I'm going to dig up another photo of you Christine Sticking out tongue

But funny you mention it. I was just looking at the forecast online before I logged in here....you know me too well!

Crossing fingers that it doesn't rain too much.....I'm so looking forward to this ride Smiling

lozza6's picture

Having flipped OTB at cascades onto my back with no backpack onto a single pointed rock, I'm pulling out of this ride now. Also a month off the bike has me way too unfit and numpty to handle a technical track in the night which I haven't even seen during the day..

Probably for the best.

Hope the rain stays away for you guys.

Cheers,
Loz

LadyToast's picture

Too bad Loz (not that I am going either - there will certainly be blood that night Smiling ).

It's amazing how a month off effects you eh? I know you will be back fighting fit soon enough, you looked fine in that video Smiling

christine's picture

was it only last week you called everyone a bunch of girls? don't be such a blouse, it won't be a fast ride anyway...and we miss you!

buck if you surface any more horrible photos of me i will think of something horrible to do to you...or worse, your bike!

lozza6's picture

yeap, I was happy to complete that section, however soon after there I somehow managed to do EXACTLY the same manoeuvre in EXACTLY the same spot as last time where I got stuck...

Only this time.. I wasn't wearing a backpack (stupid) and I landed my whole weight onto a single pointy rock into my back... bleah. So yeah, not too fresh anymore... Also probably wasnt a great idea riding that technical track straight after flying in from Toronto via LAX which took over 24 hours...

as for a month off and eating US portions... its bad.... really bad... That long out of the saddle my ass feel like it did 100kms even though I did closer to 5.

Chrissie, you could convince me... if I had a bike.. I just put it in for service today and it wont be done until the weekend...

christine's picture

if the lack of bike is the only thing holding you back my dear then take your choice - you are welcome to ride either Mildred or the Stinky and i will ride the other one...unless you want to share them both... Smiling

why on earth were you without a backpack?

lozza6's picture

I was only there to have a pub lunch after the jump training...

took my bike anyway for fun and did a few launches.. missed riding and decided to do the techy DH...

Didnt bring Backpack or water as I didn't expect I'd be doing that...

silly..

next time I'll wear my full upper body armour Smiling I love the spine protection on those things!

christine's picture

from that... i have offered you a bike for this week - you going to come along now for a laugh?

lozza6's picture

Nah, My back is aching.. am gonna give it a miss, sorry.

christine's picture

is too small or do i not want to know (...enter a comment from stuart!) both my bikes are boys ones and medium sized...

big girly blouse lozza!!!!! Smiling

LadyToast's picture

Nothing like a bit of peer pressure Christine! Laughing out loud

christine's picture

its not like he doesnt dish it out!!!

lozza6's picture

Its only designed to go with your tiny tiny feet! Sticking out tongue

blouse.. what is this.. circa 1890?

christine's picture

Ladytoast.. i was just being helpful offering my bike!!
Lozza... i know i am blonde at times but i was under the impression that the pedals are a uniform size?
what about WUSS then!!!

lozza6's picture

I was thinking more along the lines of miniskirt..

Paul's picture

so you would have an excuse to be a big girls blouse.

Lozza I'm taking the hard tail so what excuse do you have. I can lend you some pads if you are feeling delicate?

lozza6's picture

I have a full set of pads now and full upper body armour too.. so def will be getting out on the bigger stuff.

Just not this Wednesday at night on a completely unfamiliar trail Smiling

now now, I won't succumb to peer pressure guys Laughing out loud

As for you Paul.. How could you not give that Yeti the time that it deserves!!!

and of all trails.. RH is begging for dual suspension!?

christine's picture

these young boys have no stamina do they?

Paul's picture

a 60 year old in a young mans body. How else would you explain trading in a Yeti for a Giant.

Now he has a Giant he is thinking of Perimeter and Long. If he owned a Yeti he would be thinking Red Hill or Oxford Falls.

It wouldn't surprise me to find out he is an Accountant or an Actuary or a Business Analyst.

Bernd's picture

.. are you saying you are a young man in a 60 year's old body?
Bernd

lozza6's picture

who opened the taps!! Laughing out loud

Paul's picture

..no I've already worn out one body and I'm well into the second one.

Little-Ditty's picture

Ooooo Paul, you never know who is reading these pages. Sticking out tongue

Beany's picture

Hey Paul Ditties right this is an open forum.

FYI I've worn out a few bodies in my time so good work.

christine's picture

way back from Mosman just now it was sprinkling...as I know what you are like please can you text me if you decide a little bit of rain is too much to ride in...
thank you!!!!

MEEE Smiling

Buck's picture

It can't be raining too hard up there? I can't see anything on the radar as yet.

christine's picture

it was simply a sprinkle so i thought i would tease you...all clear at St Ives about now!

MEE Smiling lol

Paul's picture

It has been drizzling since 5.00pm.

Everything will be wet and slippery. It shouldn't be too muddy.

I'm not going guys, I need to build up brownie points for Friday and I'm not keen for a slow wet technical night ride.

Buck's picture

Too wet and will be too dangerous for this kind of ride

tomboy's picture

live dangerously
your all to soft, it's just water. i'll run it by myself

pikey's picture

If you like to live life so "dangerously" then why have I seen you with your helmet covered in black cable ties to keep the magpies away.....scared are we???? Eye-wink

Pikey

Salad is what food eats Smiling

Buzz's picture

Hey TomBoy - "helmet covered in black cable ties".

Are you the same dude that rides a roadie on the Northern Beaches with the long black cable ties all over your helmet like a Echidna.

Whenever I see you I laugh, hey dude you have a friggin helmet on your head that will usually do the trick, unless you are so slow they land on your head and start pecking you or you hide sausage meat inside your helmet.

Makes my day but I thought it was just a loony roadie, sorry my mistake.

Go Big or Go Home

Buck's picture

Anyone want to try this ride again this week? However the forecast is for showers again on Wednesday! Grrrrr

Paul's picture

Ben, I just rode Duck Holes, Waratah and Centre and they are dry - if you are looking for an option.

An alternative is the trail parallel to Mona Vale Rd and Chiltern rather than Duck Holes

lozza6's picture

I just rode RH for the first time today... what a ball, but so so much more to learn....

Having done it though, I'm happy to say I will not want to be doing this at night...
