due to my procrastonistic nature ive missed out on an entry to dirtworks so if anyone pulls out of the 50 or 100km i'll buy the entry off them.
also ive decided not to do the sydney 24hr solo as ive heard there's some nasty climbs and i dont think it'll be a very nice intro to 24hr solo racing. if anyone pulls out of a moderately competitive team i'll be more than happy to jump on board and do my best.
yours hopefully,
gazza

To Majura at Easter, heaps of time to train, nice flowing course, gentle climbs for the 1st 12 hours (they seem to get steeper after that) and there's already Vanina, Damien and myself doing it, which reminds me if anyone feels they would enjoy helping an obsessed crazy man achieve 360km in 24hrs talk to me please. I want to spend way less than 1 minute per pitt stop, each 27km as opposed to 5 minute pitt stops when I have my wife only helping me. God help me if she suddenly starts reading this site or somebody reading this wants me dead and dobs me in.
Training has started 6 days a week and hopefully building to more kms per week than the last race.
Cheers John.

Gazza,

we where talking to Martin at the BBQ and I got the impression the climbs wouldn't be that scary, just "honest". I know there are
some decent climbs around those parts but Martin was sort of making comparisons with heart break climb on the Dam loop which is
really over before you have started (with a puff). Plus we could always go and check the loop out before hand to get a practice in.

Come on mate... I know you've got it in you!

And John, I'm sure she was doing her best Smiling

She definitely was, and I'm very grateful for her support, the support roll is much harder than it would seem and probably too much for one person also minding 2 boys all at once.
Phew! I could be down to a severe reprimand now.

Come to Majura at Easter and join the nutters its a great race lots of fun and you don’t even have to finish to feel like you accomplished something. Like John said there is plenty of time to train if you start now and it would be great to have a nobmob team down there for the race.

There will be a few 100k tickets around in May there always is.

don't be such a blouse, the 24hr will be excellent fun for your first solo (cough cough). However, if you are worried about the course, ask Cupcake, Junkie or Cecil as they all worked on it the other weekend...
Stuart and I second the call for 100k entries, we missed out as he is in Canada...

Gazza,

This has to be a perfect first 24. There is no rule you have to ride the whole 24 hours and it is close
to home when you finish.

Start and ride as long as you can then rest. If you can ride more, great if not who cares it is just the first step.

I wish I had the gonads to commit to a solo - props to you mate

ive done enough eight hour races solo to understand that a slight climb that is easily conquered in the first three or four laps seems like a bloody cliff after that. now thats only after eight hours. imagine doing that three times and a third of it in the dark? i know i havn't been riding with you guys for a while and yes, i am fitter than ive ever been and have been training much harder since i moved to avalon but i dont think that im quite ready for an even slightly hilly 24 solo yet. me thinks a nice canberra course would be nice for a 24 virgin. watch this space??????????
