what are you paying?
its still under warranty till march, excellent condition.
even if i had one lying around I don't think it'd be going cheap
Ryda - Garmin
but i want a heart rate and cadence too, because i can .... but don't know how helpful it'll be
but I already got an Etrex for gps
(feel free to top off this thread with fors/againsts for wanting an Edge) (PS. don't let me hijack this thread)
Hi Guys
I'm all sorted now thanks, I purchased a Garmin 705. It's great!
I bought a "factory reconditioned" Edge 305 on E*Bay for about $90 delivered from USA. It had HRM and Cadence as well. I bought it because it was cheaper than the Cateye bicycle computer I was originally looking at and didn't need any special wheel magnets (bit of an issue with a Lefty fork) nor wiring.
The Edge is a lot of fun to use and HRM is very useful for training. Cadence is a waste of time IMHO for mountain biking, and not a lot of help for the kind of road riding I do.
But that Edge broke after 3 months (dead stop/start buttons) so I got it replaced under Warranty by Garmin USA - which cost me a bit over $100 for Couriers (Garmin USA apparently didn't know there was a Garmin Australia and referred me instead to Garmin Taiwan).
The second Edge 305 also broke (same buttons problem) and was again replaced, this time by Garmin Australia.
The third Edge 305 began acting strangely (turning itself on and off randomly) and was eventually replaced by Garmin Australia.
The current (4th) Edge 305 is now maybe 2 years old and working well, but these days I don't like to use it too often in case it breaks down.
If you want local they are here as well http://www.ja-gps.com.au/Fitness-GPS/Cycling
The 305's do have a rep for turning off at random, something to do with the battery connections I think. Rob posted something up about a fix he did but it's not for the faint of heart.
