Hi Rob.

Will there be another order going through for Nobmob kit I wonder? I should probably make an effort for Toasted at the Sydney 24.

Its just a Jersey give it a rest if you really want something different get switched on and organise one yourself it would be good to know who the young hip nobmob riders are on the trails so I can bite them.

So Rob whats the tally for original old fart volvo driving jerseys do we have enough yet to order in time for the Syd 24.

It started off with a group of ppl talking about how good it would be to have a jersey that could be used at races as more and more NoBMoBers were entering races (not as many NoBMoBers were competing before) and particularly team events. This was around May '07.

Two things became apparent, the final cost of the jersey and time frame that we had to try and get a jersey designed and made (I think the focus was initially on Coffs, then shifted to the Mont as we hadn't finalised anything by Coffs & the Mont was the first big NoBMoB group event).

As it has been mentioned in this thread already, the current jersey design is from a Scody template. I think there were 6 or 8 templates to choose from and I chose 2 templates that appealed to me with a red, black & white colour scheme as that was the colour of the previous NoBMoB logo. This was the starting point in the 'design' phase.
First templates can be viewed here: http://nobmob.com/node/1995

After nearly 3 months of trying to get something finalised, we settled on the current design for the jersey (the knicks came about much much later - and that has another 'juicy' tale as to how they came about Eye-wink)
The only adjustments to the standard Scody template were the logo (that was redesigned during the whole jersey process), the site addy (down the sides), colour scheme and the "Get NoBBeD" tagline...
This was after nearly 3 months of redesign (in the constraints of a template).

Lessons learnt from this process:

  • MTBers are tight, most ppl aren't prepared to pay for a custom jersey
  • You can't please everyone
  • The democratic approach to this kind of thing tends to draw out the whole process... (the 'too many chiefs' syndrome)
  • You can't please everyone
  • The like it or lump approach tends to upset those who weren't consulted or feel their concerns weren't dealt with
  • There are many critics, but few are constructive & fewer can provide an alternative solution/suggestion
  • You can't please everyone

Just for FYI, the DH/Freeride jersey has been in the making for over a year (on & off)...
This is not a criticism to those involved but just pointing out that it's not as easy as it seems to simply come up with an affordable & groovy Gen Y approved design & get buy in from many different types of ppl...

Oh by the way, I am a Gen Y/"20 something" and like to think that I am fairly "switched on" but I don't subscribe to the latest fads simply because pop culture requires me to.
In future, leave the cheap shots/insults for computer/console gaming escapades.

Dunno Damien... it's all too hard. Craig has cheerfully offered to manage this process though so I leave it to him Smiling

I expect the best thing would be to abandon this thread to the talk and start a new one with a, "Post size and quantity required only - all other comments will be deleted" warning!

I dont care what colour or what design it is, its only a jersey.
I just want one so i am not the only person on my team at the Mont who doesnt have one.
Only requirement is that it has pockets at the back! They do dont they?

...Dh style jersey to reflect the current xc one but with the extra material it just looked shite

The current XC colour scheme or incorporating the current site colours?

That there might be a slim chance that Hot Rod lives with Beany....I could be wrong!

Anyway: This is the NoBMoB uniform people recognise it as such and have come to know that nice people wear it.
As Rob said any changes are “not for negotiation"

Dear NobMob Clothing Purchase Manager,

Could I please order 1 XL Jersey and 1 XL pair of Knicks (for anyone who has ridden behind me, would my Serena Williamsesque ghetto booty fit an XL in this make?).

Thankyou to everyone for designing, ordering, wearing and promoting the NobMob crew.

BWOAR!

The small cog necklace is so 'in' these days
Maybe we should make these mandatory with the new Gen Y jerseys

By the way, Hans
I don't remember you taking my photo at this party
Cheeky!

Anyone got any approximate chest measurements for the sizes of the jerseys? Is a large about a 105cm or round abouts? Cause frankly I haven't the faintest idea what size I would be!

Colt.

Cool

GeordieAndy's picture

if you search for "Kit Order" at the top of the page the second link in the list has the size measurements.

Colt's picture

Ahh much appreciated! That does make things a bit easier. I definately want to get one, I just have to convince the wife it's a worthwhile purchase after I just spent more than 3 grand on a new bike..... Smiling

Colt.

Rob's picture

She won't want to see you riding naked now, would she? Eye-wink

Colt's picture

Frankly my wife would probably enjoy me trying to ride naked! No, not because it would turn her on.... but simply bacause I'd be in a rather large degree of pain before long. Smiling

Mind you that's just an assumption... maybe riding naked is comfortable. LOL.

Still, right now I will try any argument that has a chance of working.

Stuart, I'm noboby's "life partner" at the moment, too much to sample, too little committment, far too selfish.

Roger Roger

christine's picture

..too young!

Damien's picture

If only you had a real life maybe you could be.

Not so young aparently his youth has long since past or is he a switched on young guy who doesnt bite?
