Details:

This is a social medium paced technical single track XC style night ride on some of Sydney’s best trails.

You should expect to ride some small to medium drops and roll offs on the chosen route there are also plenty of tricky little rocky climbs and descents all over the place a bit of rough fire trail thrown in and some nice flowing single track basically a technical cross country ride. You will need some good lights competent off road night riding skills and a medium level of bike fitness to fully enjoy this ride. I would say its not a suitable outing for a beginner you may want to check it out in the day light before jumping in the deep end at night.

Pace wise it is intended to be relaxed and social while we do not really stop anywhere we will always wait for stragglers to catch up but the goal is to keep the group moving. There are side trails everywhere so it is best not to get to spread out on the trail ideally you should always be able to see the next rider in front or behind. If you plan to race of the front and drop the guys please do not come along its not the ride for you.

The rider limit is set at 12 to keep things manageable on some of the tricky routes that are just everywhere in this area so if the ride is full I am sorry but a smaller group is safer at night on these trails.

There are multiple tracks and routes on this ride so it is never boring and every outing is a different combination of trails the duration of this ride is intended to be 1.5hrs but can blow out to 2hrs at the most so plan for that time frame with lights and water.

I AM OUT INJURED BUT WILL LEAVE THE RIDE UP FOR OTHERS WHO STILL WOULD LIKE TO MEET UP AND HEAD OUT SEE YOU WEDNESDAY WEEK.

I am out for Wednesday night but will leave the ride meeting up for those who want to still head out.

Saturdays OTB at Menai caused a little more damage than I thought and today’s training ride just aggravated the injury so need to give the mountain bike a rest for a week or so.

Should be good for Wednesday week though.

...did some damage to myself, too today....
what happened to you, Damien?
I did crash, well fell over on the steep and rocky uphill at TH! and when you nearly there and don't get your foot out fast, you fall/slide down on rocks!
x-ray on ankle and clean up wound on elbow, all clear!

Went over the bars on a tricky technical bit towards the end of yesterdays Menai ride and grazed and bruised my wrist and pulled a muscle or two further up the same arm it was ok yesterday. But another three and a half hours on the bike today was enough to aggravate my wrist and cause it to swell up some more and my arm is a bit tender and tight as a result. So I just need to stick to the road bike for a week or so to let everything heel up and settle down.

Don't worry folks. I'll take over this ride for Damien and lead us through the top trails here.
Sorry about your stack mate. I didn't realise you where that hurt and we kept on riding. Get well soon.

Its reasonably ok just need to let everything settle down and mend so no mountain bike for a week or so.

...due to rain.

I won’t be posting this ride myself for a little while due to a niggling injury and new training regime.

Some very serious solo training and weight loss is the order of the day for me but I will start heading out there again on Wednesdays at some point. Look out for the odd early Sunday morning fun ride though which I will start doing again after the Sydney 24hr.
