Manly Dam After Dark – Blondies SOCIAL ride...
King Street (near corner with Arana Street), Manly Vale. You know - outside Manly Hydraulics Lab.
This is a social ride which means we will be re-grouping at all our regular spots SOOO, if you want to race around doing a ‘hot lap’, fancy doing a ‘training ride’ or don’t want to stop and wait for everyone else then this is NOT the ride for you!
This ride is a social ride – which means riding as a group and not losing anyone or leaving anyone behind.
This also means bringing a beer or preferred bevy for a chat after the ride – if you don’t want to do that either then this isn’t the ride for you
In fact, if you want to ride around and do your own thing and not socialise then post a rebel ride!
Were you there and have a story to tell?

Dont worry christine, I will arrive a little earlier to get that hotlap business out of my system before the social fun... besides, i like drinking beer after nightrides, so I dont plan on missing that!
**forgot that my mother will be visiting for the week next week. No can do. bugger.
For those who may not have been on a social Manly Dam ride and for those regulars who of late seem to be suffering memory lapses for group riding etiquette, I thought I would just put up a quick reminder of the ‘re-grouping, don’t leave anyone behind’ stops on this ride.
We meet at the lab, go up to have a half hearted re-group at the school and another half hearted grouping at the top of the first hill thing where we pop out onto the road.
A proper stop follows at the top of ‘rooty hill’ and again on the big rock over the golf course. Then again at the intersection where we usually have a lengthy chat about heartbreak hill vs. crossing the Wakehurst – since I am planning the ride to go to Forestville we will have another stop before we pop off down that way (not entirely sure where that is.. Paul?!!)
We meet up again on the football fields and then again after the houses and then again at the top of the road on Forestway – having ensured we haven’t accidentally dropped anyone off along the way.
Then! we meet again before we cross the bridge, and at the top of the hill by the power lines where we will go to the old peoples home. At Allambie Oval we will have another stop before we head off down the ‘downhill section’ - this is where everyone normally races off so it would be nice if everyone made sure they had someone near them before we get to the labs again – we used to have a half hearted grouping at the 19th hole which would be nice...aaaah the memories...
Anyway, to complete my dictatorship of this ride, which many of you may pull out of now, we have a beer (BYO) and congratulate ourselves on our superior social skills when riding!
MEEEE
Bier! I like it.....
Bernd
we only have 19 rider...
Bernd
This ride seems like a perfect chance to set the fastest night hotlap.
More than enough people to push each other right to the limits
Hmmm!
Due to unforseen circumstances I will have to change MY planned route tonight on the ride (lucky Stuart can’t comment on that one!) Anyway, I will now be crossing the Wakehurst and going up the road to the bridge instead of down to Forestville as planned, as I have to go somewhere straight after the ride – well.. I am supposed to be somewhere at 8.30...
However! this doesn’t mean that everyone else can’t go down to Forestville as Peter and Co all know the way very well....
Lozza - have you been drinking again?
posting a ride and then half chicken out?? whats going on??
What about the Bier??
Bernd
You may as well just do the normal lap including Heartbreak Hill then!?
Extenuating circumstances mean i can't stay out all night riding and I AM still coming and as for Heartbreak Hill...
noooooooooo!!!! i hate it plus it means we miss the retirement village fun part...but really, i don't mind as long as i get to get a ride in and see everyone!
hope to get down there if I can get away from kids soccer on time
lets c...dont wait up...

what a nice outing. as always gr8t company.
I have to also thank Nick for the beer, I did not bring any!!!! and to Jeff for the first nice twi light lap.
Harry, I hope your hand is ok in the morning, well done rideing back at a steady pace.
Bernd
for a fun and social ride and for waiting at all the mentioned spots - so made me smile to see you all there but that was the most relaxing night ride for ages...well, aside from when buck rode off just after the 19th hole and left me squashed and trapped under Mildred calling for help - note to self, sweep with another person in future...
we only had two flats which was good - Nick is working on overtaking Greg with the multiple flats reputation...
how busy was the dam though? was almost like a day lap with all those other people!
thank you everyone for coming along and for a really nice ride
MEEEE
ps harry - are you going to be ok for the mont...
Seems I get blamed for something whether I'm leading the pack (cascades) or at the back (manly). I had better try riding in the middle next week so that Christine can't blame me for anything
...you aren't my favourite after informing me last night that i am not only going to hurt but also die on Saturday at this nightmare ride...
hey! if you werent there who would else could i blame? Lozza? lol
Hey
It was cool getting out there last night with everyone, how did new mate pull up from the OTB, look forward to another ride soon.
Sissy, you blame me for everything!! About time you roasted someone else!
has swollen a bit more but not as sore - if no better tomorrow I'll have it checked.
