Looks good.

I've not done one of these before, what grade would I go in? Is it age ranked or speed/skill related? What is the turn out like generally?

alchemist's picture

We usually get around 100 or so riders to these. As to which grade, turn up and talk to the guys at rego and they'll sort you into an appropriate grade which is speed related.

C Grade for you I would say Dylan which will be three hard and fast laps not as easy as it sounds.

Carlgroover's picture

Would be an option if you'd prefer 4 laps, that's what I'm racing this year and your very close in lap times to me. Also you'll be able to get the MTBA license when you join the club it works out cheaper than $15 day license if you race a fair bit.
You can print the membership form out from the http://www.wsmtb.com/membership.shtml to save time on the day.
Cheers John.

.. I'm not as mad as you Eye-wink

I think I'll try C grade first and see what happens.

Cheers for the link, It's about time I got a license sorted.

Slow guys like me in D grade there , if so i may just have a go , never ridden there . How technical is it there ? as thats not my strong point

Damien's picture

I think you might find D grade a little easy C grade would give you a bit of a challenge and something to aim for in terms of working your way up the standings and improving through the season.

Its not overly technical as it is an XC course.

LadyToast's picture

That said the new hilly section we did at the last race was pretty technical, there was a sudden rock drop off which is easy to bypass and some up hill rock gardens. Nothing mad though, but quite tiring Smiling After that the course is brilliant.

Come along, the more the merrier!

Bikeboy's picture

to get there , may need to spend the day in the garden and take the bride out for a thai meal .......mmmm food .... . And i could try and justify as a training / bike tweaking day for the Mont ............Although i think i used that one to get away for work in Canberra on Monday night ......i will let you know

Carlgroover's picture

I think it would be best to choose how many kms you'd like to race, D grade does 2 laps and C grade does 3, each lap will be 7-8km normally. There is quite a range of fitness in both grades and you'll be fine in C without fear of coming last.
On your first lap take it easy to learn the course and you'll have fun.
In fact more of the Mob should try one of these, it's similar to an enduro without so much pain, tiredness, packing, camping, traveling & expense. Just turn up pay $10 (plus $15 for a day license if you need one) race on a great track, hang around talk about bikes and riding for a bit, watch or be part of the presentation then bugger off and have lunch.
See you there Smiling

Anyone passing through or leaving from the city? I love yarramundi track but i dont drive Sad...

LadyToast's picture

I'll be leaving from Frenchs Forest, so I come through Chatswood, Lane Cove, North Ryde, etc...
Probably be passing through there at around 7:30ish.

PIVOT MACH 5's picture

I can catch the 701 train at town hall and arrive at Chatswood station at 724am.
Assuming the train is not late etc, does that work?
Ill get your number from your profile and message you or call tomorrow to confirm.
Darren.

Looks like the Brownie point fairy has come up a little shot this time and i am unable to make Yarramundi tomorrow . I am sorry to say But i do have a kid free night so all is not lost ......Have a good race and i will catch up next weekend

Mate, if you can ride Menai in the dark ( which I know you can ) you can ride Yellowmundee in the light and easily three laps worth at a cracking pace...
