Worst race ever

This was my worst race ever . I started great , in fourth into the single track and went down hill from there , it was very cold with a temp of 7 deg but an App temp of 0.6 and a bloody cold westerly wind at 35-40 k with icy rain too .
This was also the easiest of the Stromlo trails with not much techy stuff or climing , not even half way up the mountain .
I was passed by just about the whole field and had no power in my legs the whole time , like when you are fatigued at the end of a long hard race , perhaps fatigued from lack of training since the Mont as i have not been on the bike much since then .
The course was fun though with lots of slippery muddy buts to keep you on your toes, and after the first lap to be honest i gave up the idea of racing after the under 15 boys kept passing me by , so just had some fun . At the end of the first lap i was almost taken out of the race by three Kangaroo's jumping about three foot in front of my bike , i was slow and struggling so i probably would have just hit them and stopped anyway but it was on a fun downhill section .
I was was happy just to have finished and given the facilities at Stromlo , have a hot shower , before stopping for the best Coffee ever before the short trip home
Conclusion ; i must have had a low level virus since the mont as even for a slow bugger like me this was a poor race or the Gluten which i had inadvertently eaten for the month earlier had a dramatic effect on my fitness
Will look at how this old body performs at Majura in mid may before looking for a bowls club
