Dirtworks 100km
I'm getting better at race preparation and now have my breakfast of creamed rice and fruit, 2 calcium/magnesium tablets and 1 ibuprofen. yum.
I'm also learning my shock/fork pressures and tyre pressures. This really helps as i find i can adjust according to how much liquid I'm carrying or what terrain ill be on.
I drink Gatorade mixed with 50 grams maltodextrin powder per litre.
I thought i had broken my chain about the 2 hour mark after hitting a rock. After turning the bike upside down i discovered it had only come unclipped. easy fixed then Took the opportunity to take another ibuprofen and 2 more calc/mag tabs, big squirt of GU, lube the chain and then take my one and only toilet stop.
I have only ridden at wisemans once before a long time ago and wasn't sure what Dirtworks was going to be like. i did remember the rocky downhill sections and the technical climbing. Alas i found this race to be not much fun.im not saying i wont do it again. or that there werent some good times on the trail. i found it to be a great workout and some beautiful scenery and of course it was challenging at times. the first hill had my low back burning just from the walk up!
I guess i was freshly spoiled from Woodend BMC two weeks ago. the single track there was awesome.
so anyhoo for those interested in heart rate details here they are.
Finished in 5:28:47 and placed 39th category and 109th overall.

I hope one day i can get better at blogging. typing is dull with two fingers.and they are my braking fingers too. will i get index rsi from blogging and braking? i know which one will have to go!
